Urgent screen question!

Hey guys I want a 12x9 screen but can only get 11.6 by 8.6

is there a way I can use the smaller screen until I get the proper one which takes 4 weeks or will I have to readjust the projector distance or any other complications doing this

Another thought is if there a way I can use my system with a cheap screen as I don’t think I can get a projector for a few weeks either ? I’m thinking I get everything beside the screen and projector and use it as is with a computer monitor but don’t know what I can hit into? Maybe I put a net around the enclosure then add the screen and projector when it comes in

lastly I will be building the enclosure myself to fit a 12 by 9 screen how big do I have to build the frame to account for the bunjees and stuff as I see most screens have some space on the sides making them bigger then the 12x9 so I build my frame 12.5 by 9.5? Then add hooks or something to clip the screen in?

Yes I understand that but if I replace the smaller screen with a bigger one do I have to change location of the projector or anything?

1. If you get a smaller screen now, just mount the projector at the proper distance for the 12x9 so it will be in the right spot for when the permanent screen arrives. In the meantime, you can use the projector's settings to resize the image to the smaller screen. Mounting a projector is a pain in the butt so the fewer times you can do it, the better. Besides, you're talking about only a few weeks difference between small screen and big screen, and you don't even have the enclosure built yet anyway.

2. If you can't get a projector for a few weeks, then #1 is irrelevant.

3. Yes, build the enclosure bigger than the screen size to leave room to create some tension in the screen. I have a 10 foot enclosure with a 9 foot screen, which leaves me 6 inches on each side for bungees. You can get away with less, but leave yourself something to work with.

What’s the least you can do would 12.6 work so I got 3 inches on each side or can I go 2 inches each side?

Does your projector have a zoom function? If so, mount it where it should be and use the zoom for what you have now.

My advice- don’t cheap out on impact screen. Especially for longevity and image quality. You get what you pay for.

Yes this is why I decided to wait for the proper screen and do this net set up until the right screen comes

what do you suggest I was thinking a Carl’s their top line screen

I read I can use the netting and use a white sheet until my actual screen arrives but I stilll have to I order it as I have no clue where to get it from Carl’s or par2pro or any other good options?

I purchased White muslin cloth used for photo studios to use in my test build/fitting for my sim room. It's inexpensive and worked so well over a month of use that I'm planning to use it in my final build. After I tore down the test setup I just tossed the cloth into the washing machine and it came out looking new. And at $40 a pop I can afford to switch it out yearly if needed.
