Good thread , thanks for taking the time for the updates on your sim build and the pics too, hoping to start my sim build in the summer fingers crossed, will be along similar lines to yours apart from the issue now with the protee/TGC software on the GC2 has thrown a spanner in the works. As I'm UK too I'll maybe try and add to this thread aswell when I get started, Cheers

From the sound of it you might be in luck...
The rumor seems to be that ProTee are going to bring out a new launch monitor that comes with TGC... and probably costs significantly less than a GC2 / Protee / TGC.
I'm a bit further on in real life than I am in the thread - but I'll get it updated soon.
I've got some friends coming over tonight and at the weekend to play indoor golf, so I'll see what their feedback is!

Looking a good setup.

For the bottom would a long length of bungee cord secured at either end work? Something like http://www.amazon.co.uk/Yuzet-Elasti...s=bungee+cords

I'm looking to build some kind of cage but the hard part for me is finding out which material would be best for walls\roof and for the hitting area.

I'm trying to do this as cheap as I can, so have been looking at archery netting (which looks very similar to your screen pics) or heavy duty PVC mounted directly onto a board possibly with some foam in between.

If I go PVC mounted direct to board I'm worried about bounce back and also the noise. I also have no idea if padded pvc can protect hitting the metal frame parts.


Any insight would be appreciated.

I'm using netting from West Coast netting and believe the netting that I ordered is actually archery netting and it works great, i have the archery netting to protect my ceiling as well as behind the screen. For the sides it is just good quality netting that really just deflects hits and so good enough in my thoughts.

I'm currently in the middle of getting a frame built for a screen - so that it can be attached at the top and sides. Once I get this, I'll be looking for a new screen that can be bungeed to the wooden frame with some angled iron. I'll update this when I get it done. My issue is getting the whole thing hinged so that it can retract!
