Carl's Premium Impact Screen and Enclosure Issues

I've probably read every post on here but man, I'm feeling stuck.

I bought the 5' Carl's enclosure with the Premium Impact Screen.... Size is 8 x 8 x 5.

Premium impact screen - Amazing - virtually silent. The only problem is I fear getting hit by bounce back every time I hit the ball.

• I've used only irons.
• The enclosure is 12 feet from hitting area (as recommended by carls place)
• I've removed a LOT of the bungees.. only have 4 on each side and bottom. All bungees on top.

When I hit long irons the ball comes back pretty quick. I usually have to chase it down. If I hit a wedge the ball hits off the top of the enclosure bounces like crazy. If I sky it I miss the enclosure all together.

Love the look but man, hitting in fear is driving me nuts.

Any suggestions would be appreciated.

I'm thinking of doing this:

1. Cutting the pipe down to lower the enclosure to only 7 feet tall. (I know the screen and sides will be on the floor.)
2. Moving closer to the screen to handle the wedge shots

I just need to fix the bounce back.

PS. I can't believe the screen already has an indentation. I haven't even hit it that much. Even at 12 feet that's a bit disappointing.

I would try two things. The first being to remove the bottom bungees and just let the bottom hang free. Does that screen have the weight bag or some other way to weigh down the bottom?

The second is to put something behind the screen like some blankets or memory foam.

Do they really recommend 12 feet back for an enclosure that's only 8 feet tall? That seems a bit far, and if you're missing the enclosure altogether than it probably is too far. Try moving up a bit.

Thanks, yeah, I have the weighted sandbag on the bottom and about 3 bungees down there too.... and I agree 12 feet seems pretty far. I’ll remove those and see what happens.

I have a similar custom setup with Carl's premium screen. Mine 8' 4" tall, 6' deep. Ball placement is 11' back from screen. I can't hit a shot short of cage ceiling without trying a ridiculous flop shot. A couple suggestions:

• Hang screen with bungees on top and sides, but leave some slack. Not sure if you have slack screen on bottom. I have a square screen, but 10'w x 8' tall frame. I roll the bottom and leave it slack. Occasionally takes some adjustment, but works effectively. Its an obvious trade-off between how taught and clear screen is vs. slack and ability to absorb energy from ball. This may also help with indentation. I've played 100 rounds and hit 1000's of balls. I don't have an indentation in same screen. Although, I have rotated (turned clockwise 90 degrees) my screen once.
• Consider adding a baffle to the ceiling. Looks like you have 12" across top of screen that is not used for image. Hang a strip of fabric 12" tall, 8' wide. It will slow down a high ball to the ceiling. Since my solution is custom, I didn't get fancy corner padding to cover EMT. I use this to prevent balls from hitting top cross bar.
• What part of bounce back is after first bounce on floor? I use 1" gym mat's under grass carpet and that mostly deadens first bounce.

Thanks for the suggestions! My lunch break is going to include removing all the bungees on the bottom of the screen based on your suggestion and 3on3putt. Currently, I only have 3 on each side and on the bottom.

Hanging that strip of fabric is genius. Do you have any pics of your setup?

Bounce back is off the screen. I also have 1" gym mat under the grass carpet which helped a bit.

I'm considering moving closer to the screen if I can fix the bounce back issue. I've hit a few balls off the projector cover and it's totally random where they end up.

I posted a couple images in this thread. https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...een#post329156 Of course, image shows an indentation! Its not permanent, but does exist based on last shot. If I tighten roll on bottom, it will smooth out. Hard to get image of baffle as ceiling is all black and dark.

Haha, that's funny. Can't see it with the screen on I'm sure. That's the way mine is. I was actually surprised when I noticed in my pic.

So I removed all the bungees from the bottom and spaced out the bungees on the side. That helped a lot.

I also moved up to about 7 1/2 feet from the screen. Played a round and at this point only the SW shots came back. The didn't come back hard but it was still annoying. Progress though!

Question: What am I doing wrong with my projector? The bottom is perfectly straight but the top off. I have it pointed directly at the screen 90 degrees.

I would make sure you didn’t accidentally hit any keystone correction to skew the image, I’d zero out those adjustments then start to angle the projector to see if it corrects the image. It doesn’t take much to get it out of square and level to the screen. I noticed mine the out the other day and the projector got angled slightly to the screen and messed up the image.

That’s exactly what it was. Just slightly off angle. I’m new to projectors and never knew such a small adjustment would change it. Thanks!
