  • Changing impact area screen/net

So you get a screen or net.
You pound balls into it day after day.
If your like me you consistently hit the same sweet spot repeatedly, with monotonous regularity, with the same "pure" swing like a machine.
    Right. Sure we do.
Anyway: I'm guessing there is a zone on the screen/net where the ball hits over and over. This spot becomes the weakest link I'm thinking. To add life to your screen or net does one slide the screen/net over a tad to get new material to hit into? Maybe slide your mat over a little to create a new spot to hammer those 165 yard 3-irons into?
Gotta mat. When my net arrives next week I'll start winter hitting in the garage. Next move an LM of some sort with TV display via a gaming PC I've recently ordered.. Then screen/projector I'd say.
This golf sim thing is a lotta dough for a retired guy. Trying to make it last.
    Appreciate the input.
    Go Seahawks.

For my screen after I wore a hole through it yes you can shift it over. I actually ordered a piece of extra screen from par2pro. Sometimes they sell off odd pieces for cheap. Then I just hang it in front of the other screen when i beat balls. Then if you have friends over and are playing you can remove that and have a clean screen for simming.

On a side note: if you're hitting 3i 165y, you probably shouldn't be carrying 3i.

It sure is! That 'lotta dough' keeps getting higher and higher... especially if you want to go to all 4K projector, high-end hitting mat and putting turf/greens that will putt to a Stimp 10, or higher!

Yes, check out the bubbtubbs link - I purchased one of the white Photo backdrops from Amazon ($20 or so), and if it saves my good screen for many years, well worth it, even if it only makes it 6 months

        Xlnt tip on screen additive.
        tks brettster and bubbtubbs
btw: that's when I hit a 3 iron into a 45 mph wind, uphill both ways with a 25 compression ball, uh, in the winter and it's a Patty Berg aluminum shaft from the mid 50's.
        -tks again

I have a 4:3 setup and hit from 10 feet back. Balls hit a vertical range of spots on screen depending on loft of club. I use a slider for my GC2, so that creates a bit of horizontal spread. Given 4:3 screen space, I bought a square screen (Carl's premium). I have rotated it once and can do that two more times. I will likely replace mine from being dirty before I put a hole in it.

Why so? Do you know their swing characteristic, angle of attack, playing conditions, etc, to make that assessment? People should play whatever they enjoy playing. It's none of your business. Please OP carry on.

Fair enough, though I can't imagine why anybody would pay much attention to the opinion of a random a****** (me) on the internet when it comes to things they truly enjoy.

Cris - I'm with you, random a** bubbtubbs too! I spent some time last season on the range and my 3-iron is only going about 200-205 max (I could've swore I used to hit it 220 or so), starting to feel the age come on... and I don't need comments about how I shouldn't be carrying a 3i.

The space at the end of my bay is 10 x 10. I got a 10 x 12 piece of the 802CC screen as a second for $199. It had 4 or 5 random red streaks that you wouldn't know were there unless I told you. I can rotate it around and shift it over 2'. I will wear out before it does.

            oakleyj i m looking at the 501, 801 and 802cc from onestopsimshop.
Any reason you went for the 802cc vs others from the jason mills fabric or even carls premium or the sq from par2pro ?

At the time the 802 was significantly cheaper - looks like it has come up just a fuzz - it has proven to be a really good screen too - no complaints at all
          Working...
