  • Bare Minimum Width for Screen - Enclosure and TGC Sim?

    Hi Everyone,

I'm looking to get my sim addition in place (on my house), but I need the bare minimum of Width that I can get by with? I notice some are building 10'x10' enclosures, can I get by with TGC projected at that dimension?

I really need to keep the width down, I have very specific reasons trying to fit this into a room, so I'm trying to keep the width at the very bare minimum.

Can someone tell me what they have their room Width at that works ok for them?

    Thanks,
    -Brett

It really depends on what you want. I have a 10x10 screen but the image is 10x7
I think 12' would be better

My hitting area is 12' but where the ball lines up to the screen is offset by 18" to the right of middle of the screen
If you go with 10' you'll end up with more offset but it will work

I think hitting area 15' and 12' screen would be good

      Mxwoodman,

Are you saying your hitting area is 12' wide? That means I need to have a wider hitting area width than I have for screen area, is that right? Wow, I'm going to have to re-think this if I need that much space.... from what I can tell 12' (hitting) and 10' (screen) is going to be about my maximum, or I guess if I'm going to have 12' hitting, I could likely go to 12' screen... but I'm pushing my limits.

My problem is that the original space I had allocated was 11'3" wide, I'm pretty sure that could work, for both hitting area, and screen, the length is 14', the height will peak at 12' (with a lofted ceiling), starting at 8' and my screen fitting into the shorter part of the area. This is going to be a challenge, I know, but it's my only option right now.

I might prefer to turn this whole thing around, but with that the width 11'3" becomes the depth, and I don't think I could make it work with that at all.

Is there a minimum depth I can get away with? I'm only going to setup for right-handed players, so need to worry about LH/RH.

      Thanks,
      -Brett

A 12 foot wide room is plenty but you'll be hitting off centre meaning the aiming spot in TGC will be in the middle and you'll hit right of it. It's not a big deal. About golf makes a sim this way. For length, the bare minimum is another issue. An average sized guy will need 6 or more feet from the ball to the back wall and a little more to the screen plus the screen isn't against the wall. I think you should be at least 9 from the screen but maybe you can do 8 or 7 if desperate. So, you're looking at 6+9+1 in length. There's a sim company in the us that said on this forum you can get away with 12x10 but I really doubt it.

11'3 will work you'll just be hitting off center and 14' for length will also work

            Look at this for guidance:

You can shave some off the suggested dimensions.
