I am currently using a cage and nets, but am now looking to enlarge the hitting area by utilizing the full room my setup is in. Has anyone had experience with professional looking wall pads? I'm not sure where to find what seems to be common at commercial or professionally installed simulators. Any help would be appreciated. I don't want to take a chance on something. I want something proven to take the abuse from golf balls. Thanks!

If you want my opinion, just screw osb to the studs and staple it with crown staples. Crowns go deep and you can't even tell they acre there. Why do panels? Why do you need to remove them?My Courses:

I'll chime in with my 2 cents.
I built panels with carpet covering resilient foam and then mounted the panels on a hidden mounting sytem. I did this partly in order to allow for flexibility and the possibility that I'd re-configure the space some time in the future.
I did not use OSB, which in itself is heavy, and did not make 4 x 8 panels which are bulky and hard to lift, etc. My panels were a little over 3 x 6 (1.0m x 2.0m) and made with plywood.
From my experience, I'd agree with mthunt and, if you are building a permanent room, put up the OSB and staple carpet or carpet tile to it. It will be a lot easier and will hold up well.

Mt and aja, thanks for your thoughts. My room is and will be a fully designated golf room. That said, I will not be in this house the rest of my life, so I anticipate having to turn the room back into a livable space at some point. I'm not sure that screwing OCB into the studs really matters, vs hanging panels. Either way, drywall patching will need to be done. I am however looking for pre-fab options. I can see me doing a terrible job at the beginning and ending up with a blend of professional looking and not so professional looking walls. So, if pre-fab options aren't cost prohibitive, I'd go that route. Although I'm guessing they probably are ridiculously expensive.

Any further comments on a way to accomplish this without too much DIY effort? I see these wall pads they use for basketball courts, gyms, which seem OK - http://www.greatmats.com/flooring/gy...FYomhgod1o8JGw
I'm wanting a wall pad on one of the walls in my garage, since space is a premium I need to save every inch, and by pushing the sim directly up against one wall i'm gaining space.

And this: https://akathletics.com/products/woo...FVNZhgodoX4LeQ - seems like I could buy two of these, put them up, and be done.

These will probably work but I'd do what Guest did and put up OSB with carpet stapled on. It's not really an intensive DIY project.
As for how many you need - plan on having them on both sides of your impact screen and to come out at least the 4 feet. Probably have to factor in the cost of shipping too.
If you've been hitting indoors for a while, you'll probably be better able to judge what's in harms way and what isn't.Last edited by aja; 04-28-2016, 07:30 AM.

These are the interlocking tiles I put on the roof of my sim, would work just as well on the walls I think/2 Photos

Yes circa 12mm thick, they interlock, have an edge strip. They use them for kids play areas I think normally. I put some 6mm ply on ceiling and then used an industrial double sided tape to stick them up. They work well at protecting the drywall ceiling, look good, the only thing is that with a full impact of a badly hit ball, the ball does ping off them, which is fine for me as the ball then hits the net or my black side curtains. Others may want the ball caught or slowed which this solution does not do.

Hey godfather, how much of a gap is there between the side curtain and the wall? Anything behind the curtain? Does the curtain alone stop balls before hitting the wall?Originally posted by Godfather68 View PostThese are the interlocking tiles I put on the roof of my sim, would work just as well on the walls I think/
