Do you see this support beam getting in my way for my wedges and projector? I've had to move about 4 ft from the wall for the impact screen so I can swing a driver. I really hate to see what it would cost to decrease the size of a support beam in the basement.

I'm also considering lining the concrete calls with gym wall mats instead of a cage since the ceiling drops where the beam is.
Any advice would be appreciated, thanks.

I am guessing that your notations of 9ft and 6ft are the length of the side walls.

It's a shame about the beam being where it is but overall your ceiling height is pretty good at 9 ft 10 in.

Next question is, will you be building a raised platform to hit from - what sim are you planning to use?

Hitting from 5 1/2 feet from the beam it should not be in the line of fire for wedges as launch angles greater than 50 degrees are pretty hard to achieve.

Yes 9x6 are concrete side walls that I would cover with gym mats instead of a cage. I'm worried the projector placement with the beam will be difficult. I can move to open basement space but thought the nook would be nice and out of the way.

I've looked at building my own platform but might use a mat day one. I'm about ready to pull the trigger on Skytrak but a newbie in this area. I considered optishot until I started researching other options.

If you get everything else to work, could you push your screen back a bit so that you only have a foot to a foot and a half to the back wall and then put the projector on the other side of the beam so that the beam protects it? You could us a short throw projector then and build it so it sits on a platform such that the base of the platform protects your projector.

Yes I could move the screen back 3 ft still but I would be hitting 13 ft away. I thought that would be to far, everyone seems to suggest 10 ft. I have to stay 51/2 ft from the beam to use my driver.

Just thought it would give you greater flexibility for the projector.

Do you agree with the projector behind the beam it will be difficult to make it work. I need to be 10 ft from the screen, correct?

I think it would depend on the projector, but think it could be an issue, but note the if it is above your hitting area and lowered to say nine feet it might work. It terms of distance to the screen, I hit 12 feet from my screen.

My suggestion is claim your part of the basement before its claimed by your better half.

You could put the projector on the floor in front of the mat. You would need to protect it, but it's another option. Others have done this. I'm guessing that your hitting area might be offset slightly based on your room dimensions, but this could work.
