  • Memory Foam to Protect Bounce backs?

Before I dive in, just a heads-up....I'm an average golfer still trying to find my swing, so I'm topping the ball now and then.

I built a DIY outdoor simulator using EMT conduit and canopy couplings (12x9). To try and prevent bounce backs, I wrapped all the 1" EMT with a pool noodle and on for the lower cross member, I placed stacked 5" thick triangle wedges from HD.

Well... turns out they aren't worth a darn when it comes to absorbing the ball's energy. I've had a few balls bounce back pretty hard.

The only two options I can think of:
    1. Cut out about 6' of EMT out of the middle and buy a solid core pool noodle for in between.
      1. This would sacrifice the rigidly of the enclosure.
    2. Buy some memory foam and build out 5" from the lower cross member, just not sure what density, lbs. or type of foam use.
      1. Heard that memory foam (like a mattress topper) would work, just not sure how that would hold up in the elements....could wrap it in outdoor canvas/vinyl
        1. Found this https://www.foambymail.com/blog/stay...XaBeFFlSOiNnEE 5iV8ymQ6aQhwlwA & https://www.foambymail.com/product/3...am-topper.html
Would love some feedback, suggestions on some real life experiences with memory foam or any of type.

    Thank you in advance,
    Jeff

I'm not sure that memory foam would stop the rebound. I made a narrow ramp from a 12" x length of screen piece of plywood screwed to a 2x4 x length of screen and put it under the turf. this deflects the topped ball up the way and not straight back towards your shin. Your situation will probably be complicated due to the position of the holes being so close to the screen not giving enough space for the ramp
