Has anyone made baffles to protect ceiling? If so how. Not sure if I could use a carpet and fold it over.

I hung my old impact screen very loosely from the ceiling via hook screws through the grommets. Ball hit and fall straight down.

Same can be done with any somewhat heavy material. Shots that hit the ceiling shouldn't be moving more than 110mph or so. The material should not be super light weight, so as to not stop the ball before it hits the ceiling.

How long are the baffles from ceiling down and how far apart? Can you post a pic if you have one?

I made my baffles from indoor/outdoor carpeting. I simply put 1 inch foam insulation cut about 9 inches wide. I wrapped them in black carpet and used a big stapler to staple through 2 layers of carpet to hold them to the ceiling. They are spaced a foot apart starting about a foot from the screen. I think I have 5 of them. The one closest to the screen takes the most direct shots and balls just bounce on them and fall. Since they are dangling from the ceiling, they just give with the blow. I did reinforce the staples on one with a piece of trim that I used a finish nail gun to attach. This was very easy to do except holding them while I stapled. I needed 3 ladders to span the 15 feet.

I have a net that feeds behind where my screen goes. There is a second net that is 4 feet out from the screen that drapes/connects to the main net. Above the net I am putting these:

How thick is the foam you are using and how do you attach it to the ceiling?

3inches above - 4 inches on the side of the room and 2 inch above the garage door.

Be careful with bounce back on foam. I received approximately 10 samples of different type of acoustic foam and tested them. All of them had signicant bounce back - similar to trampoline effect. I tested upholstery foam - purchase from Beccas- and did not have much bounce back. I received samples and tested several. Make sure you get samples before you purchase. I used an Acoustical Solutions Sonex Panel Adhesive - from Acoustical Solutions. Below will show photo.
