I think carpet could work fine, but you have to find a good way to attach the carpet without messing up the walls or doing a fair amount of construction. A bit of a less constructed option that I've been using is taking 4' x 8' sheets of blue 1/2 inch Dow Styrofoam insulation and just laying them up against the wall and then hanging floor-to-ceiling curtains to hold them in place and hide them from view. You can Velco the sheets to the walls in a few places if the curtains don't hold them in place well enough in your setting. The Styrofoam sheets are very light and easy to replace if you get too many gouges in them, but I've been using the same sheets for several years with only a few marks (that don't show anyway behind the curtains). I do have some netting hanging on the right and left sides (with the curtains hanging behind the netting) to route miss-hits to the impact screen. There is also some netting above to protect the ceiling from high-launch shots.

For curtains, I picked up some cheap 118-inch tall ones from Ikea. They are dark gray and were the perfect height for the 10-ft ceilings in my basement.

I put osb instead of drywall and crown stapled carpet tiles. I did 7x16 ceiling and 2 7x10 walls. The whole thing was done in a day and IMO, looks great.

I have carpet on the walls over OSB. Dampens the impact plenty, but not so much the noise. But I didn't put insulation in the walls. Insulation can help dampen the noise a lot more.

Very nice, would you tell me what the measurement is from the front of the chair sitting behind your tee to your tee.

              Thanks

mthunt, any issues with the carpet tiles yet, sagging etc? I see you recommend no glue too? Also, what did you use directly around your screen, I need something between my walls, and screen to cover up my bungees.

            Thanks

Thanks. I need access behind my screen and was trying to figure out something that is easy and light to remove, in case my wife need behind screen as it’s our media closet for the home.

The tiles are on the sides and ceiling. It has nothing to do with the screen. Pic attached.

I'm thinking of doing ply board with a layer of cork for sound and impact absorption then a layer of carpet

I put up hedges from amazon on the bottom and really don’t need much in the high sides but I have been thinking about colored cork board. The hedges dampen any impact and look good and seem to hold up just fine.

Great thread guys! I ran into the same problem where I was running curtains on the sides and top of my simulator and it gave it a really cheap feel. I ended up using insulation boards and adhered camry carpet i found in a putting green DIY thread. There was 4.5' roll but my sim enclosure border was 5' so I went with their 6'7" width rolls. It was super easy to adhere the rolls to the insulation boards and the carpet looked fantastic. It was fairly cheap as well!
