Anyone tried the 9oz Supertex Screens? They are for sale on ebay and amazon I just cant find a single review. I am wanting a screen with hemmed pockets top and bottom not grommets like these. I am looking for 10ft by 9 ft size and at right at 200$ shipped it seems like a pretty good deal. I am not going to be watching movies on it as I have a dedicated theater also, this is strictly for stoping golf balls and showing a decent simulator image.

Hey! I have this screen. I had to modify it to make it work right. They don't come with enough straps to pull it tight with no wrinkles. I added my own grommets and material and made straps every 12 inches around all four sides. This allowed me to pull the screen tight against the EMT frame. It actually stretches back to another section of EMT behind the front frame. I have PVC wrapped with foam tubing and have them in all four sides. But overtime the PVC has cracked in some places from being struck. So yes, above someone mentioned using wood poles. That would be better than PVC. But wrap with foam. It still could have a hard ricochet even with the foam. Also I've had mine for 2 1/2 years. I put a hole in it after 1 year. I contacted company and they send small pieces of material. I sewed and patched it. I then rotated the screen because I hit off center. Then a month ago I finally hit through and now have another small hole. So I may have to get a new screen at some point. Might just patch it for now. Overall good screen and shows a nice high resolution image but overtime with wear it will get holes in it.

Mike, we'll I think you just talked me out of the screen. My current screen is 2 yrs and 10 months old and I have no holes in it at all. I bought it from John Carilli at customdesigngolf.com. and its been rock solid. It does have some wear, I've always hit real balls brand new pro v1 and I would switch the balls out every 2 to 3 times of use because my wedges scuff the balls from time to time and that's what does the most damage to the screen. My screen cost 299.95 plus tax and shipping. Theres 14 grommets that are spaced out 30 inches. And it's pretty flat not many waves to speak of. I may just get a new one from him because at 299.95 I see more value and a longer life span. I think its quiet enough but my wife thinks otherwise that's why I was looking into the super tex. However the super tex sounds more labor intensive than the one I have and less durable. I just used 14 ten inch bunji cords to secure the screen to my frame. That's it. I'm gonna try to send a picture of it so you can see at just under 3 years it's still in very good shape. I'd say it still has about 3 months left before it tears but at 300 bucks for over 3 years that pretty good as much abuse as these this take over time.

This is my screen from customdesigngolf.com. That John Carilli sold me 34 months ago. As you can see its still in pretty good shape there's only one grommet that ripped ( bottom middle ) but for 34 months in use that's pretty good. Granted I don't hit as many balls in the summer from mid June till mid Sept because of the exessive heat in Las Vegas, but my sim is used quite often 8 months out of the year at least 3 times a week with my ball speed with the driver at 153 mph. But no holes thus far. Like I said I'd say it has about 3 months left before a rip starts to develop in the middle where most of my balls land. But for 299.95 for 3+yrs is a better value than the cost of the super tex if a hole appears after one year of use.1 Photo

I too have a Custom Design Golf screen that I have used alot for well over 2 years. My screen has held up extremely well but as Tonyd9366 experienced the middle bottom grommet had started to rip for me as well. I do have a few scuffs but he'll after being used on an Optishot setup and now Skytrak / TGC I really can't complain at all.

Yea it's been a great screen. I'm suprised more people don't have it. very easy to set up it came with heavy duty zip ties but they were pulling too hard on the screen. when I changed to the 10 inch bungees I bought at home depot it's been terrific. I was able to set the tension a lot better with the bungees by either wrapping the cord 1 more time around the emt frame to make it tighter or one time less depending how much tension i want ... pretty cool..

My HQ2 lasted 8 months before I got a single very small hole. I then bought the supertex and placed it directly in front of the HQ2 with hope of better durability.
I bought the hanging version which has top and bottom pockets for PVC and just hemmed sides. I do NOT use PVC. I just tarp clips on the top and sides and then a long bungee through the bottom pocket pulled tight to the floor. I did this set-up for the sole purpose of being able to specifically adjust the height of my screen to just kiss the floor. I simply folded the top over a couple inches to adjust the height and secured with the tarp clips. It works perfect. I have clips placed every 18 inches on top and sides. I have just a couple waves, but only because I want my screen loose than pulled tight.
Once the projector is on...you cannot see any waves. I have less waves than on my HQ2.

I've used the 9 oz Supertex screen for the last two years. I chose this one because it said it had a better screen quality.
Has anyone tried the Heavy Mesh instead of the 9 oz and how is the video quality on the heavy mesh? Yes, I think this screen is the best for the price. Each person may have to modify it a little to fit their setup. I ended up adding my own grommets every 12 inches all around sides then pull tight with bungees.
Here's link to the site with the screen choices:

Really John at customdesigngolf.com has a screen that I bought for 299.95 don't know where that price came from. He's a good suprised about that. I just bought a new screen from him today for that price. it's 7.6x 9.6.. great screen I've had it for almost 3 years now before I had to buy this new one. no holes in 3 years.

Totally understand that's a big difference in price I didn't realize the price was that high. I just know I bought mine for 299 and it's lasted 3 years. That's the reason why I bought another one good luck with the super tex screen.

Is the following accurate regarding their two versions....
*hanging version has openings for the PVC only on the top and bottom with sides sewn shut. No straps sewn into the sides
*regular version has opening on all 4 sides for PVC and there are 3 straps on all 4 sides. No orientation for top/bottom so you can rotate it 90deg if needed.
