  • I need help selecting a net for my sides and top of cage...and material for border

Ok, so my emt cage is 9.5 wide x 8 x 5 deep. I had an extra 10x10 white net just attached to the back to slow down the shots from the impact screen. I need a net to cover the sides and top for those lw shots or hosel rockets. I wasn't sure if I should look at a 10x10x10 style net or do you custom order netting for the side walls and top? I see some people have black drapes for the sides, will they stop a ball or just for decor?

A secondary material on my list would be to black border the frame a bit, just curious what people came up with? Thanks for suggestions or where to purchase...

The black drapes definitely stop a ball for me and look great. As long as you have a couple of feet next to the drapes it will stop it safely but they obviously aren't under any tension other than gravity and their own weight so it only stops them as quick as you would figure hitting a ball into a blanket would. If you have the few extra feet, the ambiance of the curtains is a great play in my book

Call up some place like West Coast Netting who will make any size you want in black or white and in various netting strengths.

With respect to a black outer cover it's main function is to keep ambient overhead lighting and it's reflections from washing out some of the projector image intensity.

When nets are listed 10x10x10, does that cover sides, top and back. I thought of getting one and tie wrap he excess material..

Yes but it's kind of sloppy if the cage is smaller. The netting is constructed to drape correctly over the design dimensions. It's kind of like buying a pair of pants with a waist size way too big, it fits over your butt with a lot of unsightly excess material.

Ok. I was just looking at west coast netting, I could get a 5ft wide x 26 ft long net to run along the both sides and top as one piece. Does that make sense? Looks like around 90.00 for black rope bound? They have grommets and also treated or dyed?

Why wouldn't you have them sew on a back made of archery netting?. You would then have a form fitting net with a really good hitting surface to place your projection screen in front of. With an 1-2 inch or so spacing between the screen and projection screen you get a really sturdy surface to catch the balls without any appreciable rebound.

Normal side and top netting is not really suitable for continuously hitting balls since the impact area is pretty much in the same place all the time and the net will wear out and/or stretch rapidly. The archery netting much better for impact backing use.

Grommets or other attachment methods are your choice. The dyeing of the net is primarily for outdoor use so the UV doesn't destroy the net so rapidly. Indoors it's purely aesthetic.

I have a 10x10 net already secured across the back with the impact screen in front. I was just trying to figure out ways to deflect high lob wedge shots and hosel rockets..

If this is already in place, then your cost for the one piece from WCN is probably the best option.
