  • NetReturn Nylon Impact Screen

This is the new nylon NetReturn impact screen. Its a little bit loud, the video makes it seem louder than it actually sounds in person.

Decent quality fabric, very easy to install with sewn-in velcro straps across the top, a red centering indicator, and 2 straps on the bottom corners to anchor and tension it. I had just installed it prior to this video, and have not messed around with tension yet, probably need to tighten up the bottom corners and maybe loosen up the top a bit.

My only concern is that the ball does jump off the screen a bit. I may need to play around with the tension, I have it pretty tight across the top. Some high lofted wedge shots did deflect upwards. I do have a homemade frame attached to the top to catch any high shots. 2 foot by 8 foot 1.25" PVC frame wrapped in a bed-sheet. Total cost to make = $20 at home depot, and a wife to sew up the bedsheet so it doesnt look totally crappy.

I shot about +20 this weekend in the Honda Classic tour..I am sure this new screen will drop 5-10 stokes off my rounds next week.

I think my garage simulator is pretty much complete at this point. My next upgrade will be a house with a basement, where I have enough room to get a big wide-screen hitting bay.

    TGC
NetReturn (net, side nets, and impact screen)
    Country Club Elite turf
    Benq 1085ST projector
Macbook Pro (running Win 10 bootcamp)

Is this the new net return fabric? If so I just installed the same this past weekend. My first screen from net return resulted in any wedge or short iron shot the ball would ricochet into the ceiling. Not so with the new fabric. However I don't have any way to secure the bottom of this screen. How are you doing that? Mine came with velcro straps on top nothing on bottom.

I think this is the new material...its very fabricy...I think the old material was more like plastic.

Mine had 2 velcro straps in the bottom corners to attach to the netReturn.

The alignment mark is just a small red bit sewn in between the 2 top center straps. I assume its there to help get the screen aligned correctly, but not really sure. It was helpful when I hung it up.

Sorry just reread your initial post. Clearly we have a different screen. Mine has no center alignment or straps at the bottom. Odd. Mine ruffles a lot when the ball strikes it. Good news is that with the delay from the Skytrak by the time a shot is shown the screen movement has slowed a good bit. If I had instant shot display from a gc2 this wouldn't be a good combination IMHO. I slid a few alignment rods in the bottom slot which helped a bit but major movement still there.

The ball is 6.5 feet from the screen. Projector is 8 feet from the screen, which fills up the screen nearly perfectly running TGC in 1280x1024 resolution.

Thanks Shardak, exactly what I was looking for... I wonder if something in between the bedsheet and the NetReturn impact screen would dampen the sound, and make the ball ricochet less? I'm going to have to set my sim up in a family room that shares a corner with my daughter's bedroom, and I will have to get it quiet enough so I can play at night, and not wake her.

Thanks for sharing your specs. My system is very similar. I did the upgrade to my mac and added windows 10 using bootcamp process. Do you connect to the ST via wifi or are you connecting via usb? The reason I ask is I am having a charging issue when connected to USB. Prior to this change I was using my iPad pro over wifi and the ST was connected to the wall wart but with the OS X software was missing a lot of shots and long waits between shots. Do you think your projector could be mounted further away? Maybe 4 feet? My ceilings are 13 feet but I have a back wall I could mount the projector. I have the same net return and screen and a mac pro I bought in 2015 that shows its a mid 2014 version.

Where did you mount the projector is it on floor or did you mount above? Im running skytrak/tgc into a net return pro with a tv mounted, but really would like to convert to a projector and screen. Debating on using the new pro series screen or upgrading to sim series or other brand enclosure.

Shardak, what's the actual size of the screen that you used for your projector calculations? Not on their website and they haven't gotten back to me. Thanks

The Net Return impact screen that I have is 8 feet wide , 7 feet tall.

It works for 4:3 projected image much better than 16:9.

I am considering the net return as my sim.

Any reason you didn't go with their projector mount and the ultra short throw view sonic they recommend?

I see you are using the country club elite turf, what size is that and how does it work for putting?

I think the projector mount is only for the "Simulator" net, not the NetReturn Pro that I use.

Also its way overpriced...$500 for a mounting kit is insane. I spent $30 on a mount from amazon and its perfect. Fully adjustable, easy to install in the ceiling. Please dont spend $500 on a mount!

The projectors they link are not very good either. One is 1280x800 and the other is just junk based on a google search.

I do have the CCE turf( 4 by 5 feet). Its OK, not the greatest product as it is made out to be. After somewhere around 5000 shots, it is wearing a groove where I place the ball. So its no more durable that other mats. It will wear out. Its also very hard and any fat shots will be very short of where they would be from hitting on grass or other softer mats. It does have a nice amount of foam padding under it, so that does help it feel a bit better. But it still feels like pretty much every other hitting mat. No mat is going to be able to compare closely to real grass...but I dont really see why the CCE is reviewed as though it has "real feel". It does not. I bought it based on good reviews, but if I could do it over I would buy a much cheaper mat. In fact I am using a Monster Tee mat at the moment as its more forgiving on my wrists and elbows. I had developed some pain in the joints after playing way too much TGC! The monster tee mat is basically junk, so I am not recommending that over the CCE. Its too soft (not stable to stand on), has no padded backing.

The CCE does fine with putting.

He is using the net return pro and specific screen for the pro. The projector mount only works with the sim series. I'm also converting my pro series rather than upgrading to sim series or other for now but not sure if that is the long term plan.

Yeah I agree, mount is pricey.

I'm not sure what way I want to go with this project. Thought the net return sim looked nice but overpriced.

If you are doing a permanent install in a fixed location, I would not recommend the Net Return Pro nets. Just get an impact screen and hang it.

I went with NetReturn because I had to install this setup in my garage, and need to be able to move it (or take it down) from time to time. If I had a basement or spare room that I could dedicate to a sim setup, I would have gone with just a big impact screen.

This project is turning into a real pita!

I think I'm in a similar situation where I'm putting this in my single bay of a 3 car garage but am attracted to this because I can take it outside and use with iPad on a nice day.

I agree totally that their projector mount is over priced, I wonder if there is some sort of after market solution that can be used in a same manner?

This fits in my garage without having to alter garage door opener and rails. Hate to spend an extra 1200 on a high lift conversion when it really may not be needed.

As for the mats, I think I'm convinced on the 5x5 CCE for hitting of of but would like to have something to cover entire floor to the screen to dampen balls hitting concrete.

I'm also building my setup in a stall of my 3-car garage. Difference for me is I have had a pro series net for years, which is a fantastic product. It works great for a garage stall because it's only 8 feet wide. Sim series is similar. But given I already have the pro , I'm going to buy the new and improved screen and do a ceiling mount for the projector. If it doesn't work out, then I'll upgrade later to a proper enclosure. But it's tough to find a good enclosure that is narrow enough for a garage stalk which makes the sim series appealing despite being overpriced.
