these clips look great and on the list... a few more questions:
-did you attach to the frame with hook or ball bungees?
-did you put any type of canvas/painters tarp or moving blanket behind screen to deaden the blow?
-what is your screen and frame size? i am looking for a 4:3 type roughly 8'-9' tall by 10' wide screen.
The main issue here is that i am currently stationed overseas and the house we live in has 11' ceilings, but that may not always be the case and i don't want to invest a ton of money in the setup until i get back the US in a location i will be for a while. On that note, I want decent quality display (not really into HQ as my setup is Optishot based) and ultimately durable functionality. I have read about:
-Supertex 9oz. (Hanging model - 9' x 10') - ~$200
-Carl's Golf (Raw 4:3 - 8'x10') - $165
-Carl's Golf (Finished w/grommets 4:3) - ~$220

bungee balls and tarp clips work great i have a strut frame and this allows me to use S hooks
i used moving blankets and put a white cheap comforter in front to keep the screen white for best picture
on the frame you want this min. 6 inches longer on each side as to make the bungees work correctly
i have the supertex love it and as of now i have around 15000 shots into it and it is 8 months old and still looks perfectComment

This is great info, I will take the same route. I was about to order but saw there are 2 Supertex 9oz versions: Golf Impact Screen Supertex * NEW** SEAMLESS** 120 x 108 & Golf Impact Screen Supertex *HANGING MODEL *SEAMLESS* 120 x 108
Any views on which model works best with tarp clips? Or would it be irrelevant?

If you're using tarp clips it shouldn't matter. Also check ebay, when i looked around sometimes they would have different prices for same screen.Comment

I put 1" cheap netting behind the net - found it on ebay these guys have any size you need and rope and twine if you want to put a nice edge on it. $25 plus the global shipping will get you everything. This takes all of the blow. 9x11ish for 4:3.
HOWEVER, I built my home theater one the other end of the same room and used simple "blackout fabric" from the fabric store to make my screen. It's used for drapes and has a rubber or something coating on one side. After I hung the HG screen from par to pro, I noticed that the picture was much clearer when I had folded over the fabric for the clamps. It bugged me enough that I hung my leftover blackout fabric behind the HQ screen and the image really popped. I regret not just trying it out with the blackout fabric first. It's so comparatively cheap it's almost disposable. Harder to find extra wide, but a seam is pretty easy to do.
So - unsolicited advice given your situation, give it a try with blackout fabric and some netting or a tarp behind it. Worse case you can add the expensive stuff over the top. Hopefully there's someone else on the board that has tried and you can even figure it out first. Depends on your budget really.

I think I may pull the trigger on the Carl's Golf. I know I said I want to project 4:3, but I also want to use some of the advice given by using the clips and adjust the screen to vary the impact zone. What do you think about the Carl's Golf screen?

Since you folded over the fabric, did the tarp clips create a permanent fold in the fabric? If you were to unclip and adjust your tarp, would you be able to smooth everything down?Comment

I bought some memory foam for behind my screen. These clips may be the answer to how to hang the foam. Hmmmm. And my local Home Depot shows stock.Comment

Yeah - I bet they might if you squeeze it down. I don't have any memory foam but maybe you can sharpen a metal dowel (5/16 or so) and stick it all the way though one edge of the foam like a needle. Maybe and inch from the edge and then cut the foam slightly every foot or so to get a metal hook on the rod?

Four Year Update - Finally updated my frame to 14 feet wide and used the extra material that had been folded back under the edges with the clips.
Now projecting at 16:9 and very happy. (~14ft x ~8 ft )
The clips did not leave any marks and are still working great.
I did add a layer of "blackout fabric" (cheap drapery stuff from fabric store - three strips 54" wide hanging down behing the P2P HQ material) to help the image quantity - it makes a huge difference for less than $50.

Your clips didn't leave any indentation on the folded over part? I did the same thing, went from 4:3 aspect to 16:9 for a wider setup and my clips left little indentations on the screen material that still haven't come out. Of course no one else notices, but I know they are there.
