Hang screen with hooks instead of bungees?

I'll be receiving my screen from Par2Pro in a week or two, and I'm thinking about how to mount it. I've already hung angle iron and am using tarp clips attached to bungees to hold up a temporary painter's tarp. The issue is that the bungees are 12", plus the tarp clip, plus the inch or so of the angle iron...meaning the top of the screen starts about 1.5 feet below the ceiling (10 foot ceiling, so maximum of 8 foot high screen). I'm hoping to have 9 foot high x 12 foot wide viewing surface.

Has anyone hung a screen directly from hooks instead of using bungees? Just wondering if the stress from the golf ball hitting the screen will eventually put too much strain on it since there would not be any elasticity from the bungees.

Maybe use shooter bungees? Isn't a 12" bungee wrapped around, so the actual length is half that?

12 inch was all I could find that seemed strong enough, all the 6 inch bungees are either really thin or have the ball connections. I'm attaching to screen via tarp clips, so I need to use S hooks to the clip. The 12 inch bungees that I bought have S hooks on both ends, I didn't really think it through very well when I bought them.

I hang mine with tarp clips and bungees. Do think you want some flex. Mine are mini bungees with s clips on both ends. Total distance from rod to top of screen is 6 inches. Bungee portion is less of course. You should be able to have 9 foot screen without problems. Had mine for several years with no problems.

Are the mini bungees the super thin ones? If so, how many did you use? I used about 6 of them to hand my painters tarp originally, and 2 of them fell off within the first 4 or 5 real balls that I hit into the tarp.

They are pretty thin... 4mm diameter maybe? I have ten or twelve across the screen.

What do you mean "fall off"? Isn't that just how you are attaching them? Mine don't fall off but i do crimp the ends a little. I loop them through the tarp clip and back up to the rod so they are half length. Both ends attach at the same point at the rod.

I'll have to see if I can run the bungee through the clip, that would help with the length. I didn't crimp them since this was just a test, the bigger concern was how much they stretch when the tarp is hit.

Have a look at post #12 in my Topic http://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum/...rotee-sim-room

Best way to use bungees is attaching them in the middle (of the bungee) and connecting them to the angle iron at an angle. The number of bungees you use affects how tight the screen is.

Also - make sure that you back up your screen with a net. It will reduce wear and tear on your screen.

Aja - what kind of bungees are you using?

Thanks, I'll check it out. I have the hq2 screen and net ordered from Cory, should be here in a week or so.
