Hi Everyone,
I have been following everyone's posts on here for a while. Looking at all the pics and reading about all the sim room builds is getting me excited and a little overwhelmed.
So, I am building a house and talked the wife into letting me have a sim room that doubles as a theater room. I attached a pic of our basement plan and have a yellow box around where the sim/theater will be. They are hiding the steel beam so it won't jut down from the ceiling.
The dimensions of the area are 15 ft 8 in wide, 26 ft 1 in deep, and 10 ft tall (but will prob be like 9'8" after the ceiling and things are installed).
I plan on the screen hanging 12 inches from the wall. Tee/ball position 9 ft from the screen. and starting seating about 5-6 ft back from the tee/ball position. I need to put 2 rows of seating behind the hitting area for movies, so a little limited on space that way.
I have no idea what size screen to get, and therefore, no idea what projector to get. I was on projectorcentral but not sure what i'm exactly doing there. I'd like a widescreen projection for movies. Also, where can I mount the projector so there is no shadow cast on the screen? Above the ball? 1 or 2 feet behind the ball? Any suggestions?
I plan on hanging the screen connected to angle iron. I'm not very handy. Can I just attach the angle iron to dry wall, or does it need to be attached to the studs in the wall? How much space is needed between the angle iron and the screen?
Thanks for your help everyone!
Rich
