  • [Skytrak build plan] Does it fit ?

    Hi all,

After months on reading this forum, I decide to go with skytrak. I move in new location next month and have few questions about the setup I plan.

    Location :

I will rent an appartment in center town (noise and no damage/durable construction will be my priority)

    Room :

    3m wide, 4.4m long, 3m heigh

    Build plan :

Important points where confirmation from you are required :
Space between impact screen and stance mat : 1.8m
Space between Stance mat and wall behind (wall of the door) : 1m
Space between stance mat and wall behind the swing (left wall from the door) : 83cm

I know this is a really tiny space to install a sim room. Thats why I prefere your advice before order everything.

    Components and cost :

    Enclosure & impact screen
-> Minibay enclosure 10Wx5Dx9H from allsportsystems with all black protection (1600€)
-> As I rent the place, build by my own is really hard, need something I can move away when I left. Plus I can resize the pole to fit perfectly (can you confirm ?)

    Stance mat & turf :
Will be cheap turf in front of screen to absorb ball and avoid noise for neighbours. Around 150€
Will be something like CCE mat 1.5m X 1.5m around 400-500€ (not sure because pain in back and read that fiberbuilt made something less realistic but more "soft").

    Electronic :
Have already a gaming computer so its ok
Will buy a projector around 700€ like a benq who fit my need

    Launch monitor :
    Skytrak 2000€

    Software :
    TGC 1000€

    Total cost : About 6000€

So, two questions : According to your experience, the size room and the plan I wrote is it OK ?
    Is there a better way/option ?

    Thanks all.

With less than 10' wide, you will be really offset to one side. Depending upon club, swing plane, projector and projector location, the projector itself may be in the club path. You will need about 6-7' behind ball position (down the target line) to swing driver. You will need about 1' behind net/screen for impact. I guess, start swinging clubs in there and see how you feel.

Doable but tight. Definitely offset but TGC has offset ability. Agree with wb, swing a few clubs and get a feel.

You will probably have 2 feet or less from the wall opposite your stance to the ball. That is going to make the ball hit really close to edge of the screen, which will diminish the screen's life and increase bounce back. That said, go for it ;-)

          Thanks for the answers !

I will follow your first advice and make few swing with driver as soon have the key, before order stuff.

So, few more questions about your comments :

          1) Does Offset (which i will need according to you) take off lot of fun/immersion on practice/simulation ?
          2) Are you friendly with allsportsystem enclosure to confirm I can resize few inch to fit perfectly ? Does the impact screen still properly tend if resize of poles ?

Godfather, I note your point and it is maybe possible to put something between net and impact screen on the principal impact zone to absorb ball impact and increase life of screen.

Is a tiny space for sure! One thing not mentioned yet is noise. I'd be concerned about that in an apartment. It could make it a non starter.

I'm offset and it doesn't bother me a bit. In fact I prefer to stand in the center and hit offset. I also prefer not to offset TGC since I don't aim by looking at the screen.

Hitting offset allows one to flip the screen and spread the wear around.
