  • Is an enclosure really needed?

    Hi

Could somebody please explain to me why an enclosure (costing quite a bit) is needed? Without owning any of the relevant materials, it would seem to me that it is not that difficult to hit an impact screen of 10 by 10 ft right? I also understood installing a net behind the impact screen will minimize bounces.

    Thank you

It depends on whether you don't mind fixing damage caused by errant shots and occasionally dodging the errant shot rebounds.

Sooner or later you will hit a sky ball or a hosel rocket. It really doesn't matter whether you are a plus handicap (later) or a hacker (sooner).. Remember you will probably occasionally be attempting a full boogie swing to see how high you can get the ball speed. At that point the skyballs and the hosel rockets usually appear.

If something can go wrong, it will... I couldn't wait to hit on my system and first drive I hit before I had installed padding on the angle iron holding the impact screen, went "a little high" - hit the top angle iron and shot back directly at me. Almost made me a soprano... Lesson learned.

Have to agree with what Ron said, sooner or later, it will happen.

I took a direct shot in nose 2 weeks ago off the top bar off a full swing sand wedge two inches down could of broke a few teeth. Damn thing bled for 20 minutes

Since changing my setup, I haven't hit my $1500 drapes, but I'm sure I will at some point. Better safe than sorry. It also stops me holding back, as I know that a duff shot will be safe!

I just put up the same size screen with no enclosure. I hit a few sand wedge shot yesterday that hit the upper portion of the screen and literally rolled up it and flew back over my head lol.. another couple I caught in my hand after swinging so yeah, be careful !!!!

reminds me of the first time i set up one of those little, maybe 6'x6' driving nets in my backyard some 20 years ago....

popped up the 3rd shot. right over the fence. heard it bounce once and then glass.

went and dropped off a handful of cash to the neighbor and never hit to that net again...hahahahha

I don't plan on having a net but then again I plan on hitting foam balls. I MIGHT put a net infront of my movie screen and hit into it
