  • Buy Impact Screen Fabric Directly from Mill

As a cost sensitive person attempting to build a high quality simulator, I realized purchasing the correct impact screen is critical to both the simulator's overall performance and it's price tag. It should be affordable, durable, seamless, impact resistant, have minimal bounce back, low noise, and display HD quality images.

West Coast Netting, Par2Pro, Foresight, Carl's Place and others listed in various forum threads all sell screens but none actually manufacture them. Buying second hand increases cost and my goal to buy the highest quality materials at the best possible price can only be accomplished by purchasing direct from the mill that manufacturers the fabric.

After plenty of research I found the mill that's manufacturing the impact screen fabric for Foresight, Carl's Place and others. The mills highest quality impact screen fabric is a heavyweight knit polyester sold only in 120 inch x 40 yard rolls. The raw material costs $56/yard without shipping.

40 yards is clearly too much material for my simulator so I'm looking to get a group of us on the forum to split a roll.

Please advise any interest or questions.

Actually, going to need to change this. Remeasuring the room since wife allowed me to remove the ceiling fan which opens a few more options.

            • I also just got my screen (yesterday). Daniel is a good guy and delivered as promised. The material is awesome--way softer, spongier, and thicker than I expected...my guess is that it's like the most premium option out there for about 3-4x less. FWIW, I was so worried about having no grommets, but I bought tarp clips (I used the EasyKlip Midi in white) and these are insanely easy and strong. I honestly don't know how they hold on so tight, but absolutely no need to put on grommets. Combined them with bungees and some eyelets to make it simple. See pics. Hope this helps. (This is using my old projector--need a shorter throw one for sure and at least 1080p--this is 720p).

                  • Hey guys I was going through some old orders and matching with shipments. I don't have a record for shipping to Michael Dayton. I dont have a record for shipping Tim Fox his second screen. Everyone else i show clean. Michael Dayton and Tim Fox please confirm if you received your screens. If not please send me a label and will get them going. Anyone who has needed material urgently I have been attending to via e-mail until we finish a website to handle orders.

                          • Has anyone bought double the length needed and hung it over a pipe double thickness? I’m thinking this would really dampen sound and bounce- but maybe it doesn’t need this?
