  • Suggestions for "fold away" set up W/ Skytrak or gc2

    I live in Boston (long off season) in a 1,000 sqft condo. The place is basically a separate kitchen and bedroom with a very large living room. Wife gave me the ok to purchase launch monitor, mat, net etc as long as I can easily put it together and take it apart every time I use it. I will be setting this up in our living room. Dimensions of usable space I will have 14ft X 12ft. Ceiling is 10ft tall.

    I need the most space effective launch monitor, hitting mat, and net. I need to be able to take apart the whole thing in no more than 15-20 mins and put it in our basement. Seems like going the projector and hitting screen route is impossible. I have settled on the Skytrak for my LM and going to use either TV or tablet for a screen. Going to buy the Skytrak used and see what else hits the market in the next 2-4 years. We will be buying a house in the next 5 years for sure and I will be purchasing a (hopefully) greatly reduced $$$ gc2 + HMT (or the ES16 if they ever figure that out) unit for ultimate man cave performance.

    What do you all recommend for mat and net? Obviously my number 1 criteria is space and ease of (dis)assembly but I also ABSOLUTELY REQUIRE a hitting surface that pairs well with the Skytrak and will give me accurate numbers. My father has The Net Return golf net. While I like the fact that it is sturdy and I can assemble it in just a few minutes, I find in practice that its actually quite annoying having the ball fire back at you right after you hit. I would prefer a net where the ball just dies and falls strait down.

    So far I have:

    LM: Used Skytrak
    Mat: CCE, Truestrike, ....? #1 thing is accurate #s on Skytrak.
    Net: Similar to net return in ease of assembly but ideally one where the ball just dies at the net.

    I would really appreciate any insight here. Thanks in advance.

    I bought & used this net for the first 6 months or so I had my skytrak;

    Really easy to setup and take down and the ball pretty well dropped. Only problem I had was the netting was beginning to fray slightly. If I had to do it again, I would buy the same net but hang a towel or target from the netting.

      I was looking at that net last week. Its has quite a price range on Ebay, $457 all the way down to $145 shipped! Are you saying the fraying was around the center of the net?

      Sorry, just seen this. Yeah, the fraying was in the center of the net right where the ball always hit...mostly my fault, i'm sure. I was using balls until they cracked, wedge cuts & all. Good condition balls & a towel hung in the impact zone, net would last a long time

    With my setup in my garage I use a heavy duty curtain track with my impact net. I must be able to set up and breakdown because I have to use the garage for our cars. I can breakdown and setup in under 5 minutes. Works great!

      So you have a link to the curtain rack? Wife said I can attach something with a small footprint on the ceiling in wall as long as it can retract upwards? Which screen did you use? Thanks for the help!!

        Look at what some users have done with sportscreen setups. That is what I am doing in my garage, I'm just waiting on some tubing from 80/20 to get it installed

      Recommend Spornia SPG-5 net that I’m using. It sets up and folds away really easily. You can get the screen version to project onto it. Ball automatically slides down the net and rolls back to your feet. You need to get a hitting mat separately.
