Greasegun My 3 section FB hitting mat was $240 CAD (approx US $180) delivered (to Vancouver, BC, so no border charges). I love the feel of it. Some people complain that it is too forgiving. I would agree that it is forgiving, but that's a benefit to me since I hit way more shots with the SIM than in real life so I don't wan't something punishing on the joints. Plus, there's nothing realistic about having a perfectly flat lie all the time anyway, so IDK what the big fuss is lol.

Thanks. I think ill buy a strip. Really sucks after spending so much on a5x5 CCE but cheaper than an injury. And maybe hitting will be more enjoyable.

Greasegun Personally I didn't love the CCE. Some people do, but it's not for me! Enjoy your Fiberbuilt!

Has anyone tried cutting a section out of a CCE mat to accomodate something else? Im considering cutting out a 1 x 2 section from my 5x5 to drop in a couple fiberbuilt squares. Im afraid cutting that mat is going to turn into a big mess.

I've done exactly that. I used a 5x5 CCE, two 12" FB panels, and two sheets of plywood underneath everything with a cut-out on one sheet the same size as the two panels so that I could then put some foam (in the void) under the FB panels. That way it absorbs any downward force from the club. Have had no pain since I switched from just the CCE.

I just used a large kitchen knife for cutting out the 1 x 2 hole in the CCE. I cut the foam (underneath the FB panels) so the two pieces would be flush. I may try to post some pictures...

wbond Sorry if you have already answered this question. What is your enclosure or hitting area like? In your photos it looks like you have loads of space! Thanks for sharing. Too bad you're not interested in making the DIY strips.

My setup is in a 2 car attached garage which is approximately 20x 20. I don’t have an enclosure I built an upside down U out of met to attach my screen and net to. That is attached to floor and then has arms at the top that attaches to the wall. I will try to find a pic.

Brettster they are rapala lock and hold fishing rod holders. Also have used pool cue clips from ebay.

How is the laxan mounted? Cool setup! I was thinking about making a DIY TrueStrike with the Chinese 3D mat but your divot action looks awesome. Every get the magstrike figured out? Any updates?

I haven't even had a chance to use my skytrak with the magstrike yet. Hopefully this weekend. I have no desire to make them for anyone, but i'm more than happy to share what I did. The limited shots i did take, it was quite evident to me that this is the easiest on the joints. Depending upon cost, I would probably buy the real deal if it was available.

I'm seeing so far that if you double stack magnets in the base and the mat that it gives a greater effect. I think I may need more due to my layout.

50-1-1/4"x 1/5" magnets were $14 (I would suggest getting 100 to start)
Forstner bit was $15
Wood was about t$10 (just for the hitting section)
Mat is up to you. I had a piece that I re-purposed.
Lexan 18" x 12" x 3/16" was $19

The lexan just sat on top of two pieces of wood at each end. It worked very well at this thickness. The stuff from HD and Lowes was much thinner and would sag. I have since seen someone add some foam or something in the middle to prevent sagging if you use the thinner stuff.

As far as the magstrike, i was luckily and got the actual magstrike mat so never pursued trying to perfect the DIY version.

wbond - just curious how the MagStrike mat is holding up and where you bought it? I cannot locate it for sale anywhere except in EU (close to $927 Euros).

Are you still using MagStrike only for your hitting mat? I'm in process of finding the best... have Holy Grail and SigPro Softy coming, but likely will also drop in a FiberBuilt (protee sensor top for now) to try out. I know previously from playing in Sims, the only one that felt good to me (and my wrists/arms) was FiberBuilt - but never tried these newer varieties or the DivotAction or FairwayPro. As you may know, Divot-Action is out of business as the owner passed away, and Fairway Pro is unresponsive as well, no replies from them.

Have you used an actual TrueStrike? How did that do for you? I'm considering making my own Gel Mat underneath as it appears it could be the 'most realistic' from a numbers standpoint - just don't know if it will protect my arms enough?
