Don't know about the others, but I just received my Birdieball putting setup. My two strongest feelings are:
- Holy sh**T I can't believe how much it cost for what is essentially just Styrofoam with some bits of plastic
- and OMG this is really really really great to putt on!!
There's a reason the product is popular... it's a very realistic putting experience and is both easy to set up and easy to disassemble and stow away if required. they have a great product but they charge a fortune for what it is imho

I use the StarPro Greens MPT Pro putting turf, and could not be happier with it. It rolls true, has a nice appearance, and seems very durable. I have some pics and more details in my build thread, if you want to check it out: https://golfsimulatorforum.com/forum...ld-version-3-0

JohnnyJedi how are you making out?
I am trying to build my basement sim as well and looking for a cost effective yet decent putt turf with some fringe to surround my hit/stance mat.
That MPT looks amazing and it should for $4+ a sq ft. I am looking at option half that, but not sure of performance and most places require a large order with only small samples. So hard to do some test putts. lol
Thx...

If resellerRatings.com is correct, I would avoid rubberflooringinc.comOriginally posted by JohnnyJedi View PostTnx for the reply BG.....

I have ordered samples of NP50 and StarPro MPT. I have a 15x17' space that I want to cover with turf. Those 2 seem like the best (but most expensive) options.
If the samples dont blow me away, I will probably go cheap with something like these options:
$2.33 / sqft: https://www.purchasegreen.com/shop/putting-green.html
$2.53 / sqlft: https://www.homedepot.com/p/RealGras...T-30/202336856
But im not sure what (if anything) I would need to put under the turf. I am laying it on a concrete floor.

I spoke to an STI rep today, they claimed the NP50 can be placed directly on concrete, it doesnt need any backing. The price per square foot was $6.35 I think she said.
StarPro MPT is $4 / sqft
Samples of both NP50 and StarPro MPT are on the way.

Seems most of these turfs are made in a few factories in Georgia and all very similar.
I found some green/turf close outs and over stocks that are pretty similar to NP50 for around $1-2 for those of you in USA.
Most you can get padded or Unpadded.
I have a bunch of samples and more to come.
I am also finding fringe and hit mat turf as well.
I will def be trying it for a fraction of the cost.
I will post more details in a couple days when I have some more info.

Here is a place I found that sells NP50 for $3.55 / sqft. Its got a different name, but the specs are identical and a salesperson confirmed its the same product.

I am planning to buy one as well. What size do you have? Would 3 feet be wide enough to have a stance and make a straight put to the hole? Did you buy an add on's like shims etc?Originally posted by gnomike View PostDon't know about the others, but I just received my Birdieball putting setup. My two strongest feelings are:

Golfbeat I bought the 4' x 14' deluxe package with all the shims, borders, & extras. I think th e 4' wide is worth it, as long as it doesn't break the budget. That extra 12" makes a difference... it gives you more options for making putts without worrying about having a stance off the mat or feeling cramped. Having said that, the 3' would work fine... the 4' is just better. As for length, I would have been fine with 8 or 10'. I really don't use the extra length. I could, but I really don't. most of the putts i find myself practicing are the 6 to 10 footers anyway. I went with the local course stimp speeds of 9 & 10, but would recommend the higher speed one because this mat definitely feels slower than a RL green stimping 9 or 10. What else? oh yeah... the shims... they are kinda useless. They are just pieces of foam in various shapes. The putting is great when the mat is flat, but no matter how I inserted the shims, they gave the mat a very unrealistic "bump" that wasn't good for putting practice at all. Better off using/finding your own objects at home to experiment with if you want curved putts. The black borders for keeping balls on the mat and framing the ends are actually nice to have.
Sorry... that was a lot more than you asked for, lol, but I hope it helps... let me know if there was anything I missed!
