Flush stance mat ideas

My sim room is in my formal living room and doubles as a movie room. One thing that bugs me is just having my mat on top of the carpet. Does anyone have any ideas for something aesthetically pleasing for such a room that would be flush? I’d consider cutting into the carpet or replacing the whole floor if the solution looked professional and appropriate.

What about cutting out carpet and saving the piece to replace when you are done with hitting mat. Or hitting mat flush with area rug over it.
