  • Fiberbuilt Hitting Strip DIY suggestions needed

I bought a Fiberbuilt 1x4 hitting strip and am looking for some suggestions to help build my hitting area.

My sim room has a nice wood floor. There's no way I can just lay the Fiberbuilt hitting strip on it. The metal bottom and protruding screw heads would scratch the floor every swing and the hitting strip would slide all over the place.

I need something to put underneath it to prevent scratching and movement. I don't want to go too thick though, otherwise it's going to raise the height of the hitting strip to the point where I've got to raise the stance mat to compensate....and then i'm getting close to putting clubs into my ceiling.

I was planning to place the hitting strip on top of a piece of non-skid drawer liner, and then get a 4x4 Ultimate Super Tee Golf Mat from www.allturfmats.com to put up against it. This mat is supposedly 2 inches high, which would perfectly match the height of the Fiberbuilt with non-skid liner under it.

I bought the non-skid liner and tried it. I'm thinking I need something more heavy duty (or thicker). I thought about biting the bullet and purchasing the Fiberbuilt rubber foundation, but that costs $299. Seems like a lot for a piece of rubber.

Any ideas? What have some of you guys used under your Fiberbuilt?

Do you just have it lying on the concrete or do you have something underneath it?

Its just on the concrete framed in with 2x4s. Im really limited on ceiling height already so i'm very hesitant on finishing the floor. I can't give up any height and I don't want to tear into the concrete and lower my turf.

Your panels are a much better color than mine and I specifically ordered the less bright “On Course Green” color panels. I think they sent me the wrong color. Plus mine are bowed where yours are flat. Sigh

Is it loud when you chunk one, having the metal brackets up against concrete?

I don't chunk them Lol! Ive had friends hit some heavy shots but I didn't notice anything other than you could tell the shot sounded a little heavy.

Following this thread as I am literally in the same position as OP. I have thinking of taking a cheap carpet and putting it under the ATM and fiberbuilt by its side. I have FB is pretty heavy so it won’t move. I don’t have a frame like the OP
