  • My Gel Pad Mat

Some guys had some questions about my floor and hitting mat..... here is a video showing how it’s put together. I’ve used fiberbuilt and other mats but I have to say this diy gel pad mat is the best I’ve hit on....it really is simple to put together.

Thanks for this. Looks like your gel is cut into two sections with a gap long of the hitting area. Any reason for that?

My pad is 12 x 24 and the gel pad comes in a 16 x 18 ...so I think that was the best way to do it with just buying one gel pad

What tee holder did you use? I'd like to get one of those...

        Hi,

Great idea and going to try and build something similar myself. I'm from the UK so buying the same gel pad will cost a lot more once you include shipping etc.

They do sell similar in the UK and wanted some advice. It seems that I can get 45cm x 45cm (17.7" x 17.7") in either 1cm (0.4") or 2cm (0.8") thickness.

Which would be the best option in terms of hitting experience? I guess the thinner one would be too thin?

Also it appears that this size is harder to get than the much smaller 25cm x 25cm size but I was concerned that either the hitting area would be very small or there would be a gap where the pads meet. I assume this would be an issue?

Thanks in advance for any help.

I would love to have the thicker pad.. Not sure your subfloor height, mine being 2.85 inches, I had to make up a lot of room....I used the .4" only because that was all that was available.

Let me add, I believe it equally important as to what is between the gel pad and your turf. My turf has a .25" foam backing so over all turf thickness is .5" which feels right....

            Hi Gene,

What brand of turf is that you are using?

Its a synlawn product that I used for my entire putting green. I think it's call SynLawn Precision Putt. Very similar to NP50 from Synthetic Turf
          Working...
