Double Sided Traditional Fiberbuilt Mat

I have an opportunity to buy a used fiberbuilt with local pick up. Just wondering if a used double sided traditional fiberbuilt mat for $500 is a good deal?

I bought a used one (6x4) in Atlanta for $350 a few weeks ago. A few of the squares were worn out but you can flip the hitting strips over, unscrew them from bracket, and rerrange to maximum usable hitting surfaces as they wear out. I probably would have gone up to $500ish...

I don’t have use for the left side but can use this hitting area once it wears out. It’s the same exact model they have at Golftec.

Like Fro said...you can rearrange the squares and move the middle one that's taken the most wear to either end.

A good cleaning and I'd probably pay $500 for that, but I would def try to see if I could get it for $400.

I bought the mat but this thing is heavy. Since I don't have a dedicated area for my sim and need to park my wife's car inside the garage, does anyone have a good recommendation for either a cover or easier way to slide the mat out of the way?

I am interested in this too. I hit in my 10' wide garage. I currently have a CCE RealFeel mat. When I am not using the CCE, I lean it against the wall upright. Since the CCE does not have a solid bottom and not rigid, when I lean it against the wall it occasionally bends and falls down.

I am thinking of upgrading to Fiberbuilt as I want to have better iron hitting experience. How heavy is heavy, when compared to a CCE? Also with fiberbuilt are the inserts attached to the base at all so if I try to lean it upright they don't just fall off?

The insert(s) and standing mat are not attached to the base. I don't think you'll be able to lean the base up as it would fold over on itself because it's flimsy yet heavy. I would guess the base is over 50 pounds. This mat is quality.

Thanks for the insight. I wonder if it would be more worth it to purchase the 1x3' strip and lay that alongside the CCE mat and use this strip to hit irons. I have heard people do that as well? Is there any concern with the smaller hitting mat moving while hitting the iron shots and if so what are people doing to prevent it from moving? TIA.

I believe the total weight is over 150 lbs and a lot of that is the one piece rubber base. I saw another post here where someone mounted it to a piece of wood and drilled rolling casters onto one side and handles on the other side.. this lets them tilt it and roll it away when not in use...

smaller hitting mats definitely move.. this 4x6 mat moves like 1-2 centimeters after a full session.. I give it a little kick on the side with my foot and its back where I want it.
