Best mat I've ever hit off of, wow!

I'm in the process of building my golf sim and have been using old mats from when I was a Golf Course Superintendent. I'm a 50 year old with a 10 handicap with the old system...if that matters. I've also got a wrist that is so bad that when the doctors look at my MRI, they all say...wow, that's impressive since it's so bad. So yes, I need all the cushioning I can get if I want to hit a couple hundred balls at a time off a mat and live to tell about it.

I purchased a CCE mat after reading about it here on this site and ordered through Costco for $450. Then I went to my old club where I was the Super....and they bought new mats which changed everything for me. They were so good that the next day I called the Pro to ask what he purchased. It's the Quattro Mat from Wittek Eagle One....a company I used to buy things from so I was familiar with them. Top notch products for sure.

So I ordered one and will be returning my CCE mat back even before I try to compare. I paid $399 for the Wittek Quattro plus another $100 for shipping. Next day after I ordered (ouch), they went on sale for $325. Get yours now.

Just thought I'd throw this post out there for others that are old and have pain like I do so that there is a solution...the Quarrto!

RJBoogie - I'm also curious, is that 'Mega Mat' that you cut that small tee area out of, and put into your Quattro strip? Also curious which launch monitor you use? You can fill that out in your information up here for your User Profile if you like.

I think I would agree, I would like that better than using 'birtees', and also curious on your 'Soft Strike' review. If you cut that small piece out, maybe you have other bits of that mat you would sell off?

I bought the Quattro directly from China (yuhegolfmats). The sample I requested is described on their site as “tee line turf golf mat with 35mm tee line turf and 10mm foam rubber”

I believe I cut the sample they sent in half to embed into the Quattro mat. I could have gone with 1/4 of the size to just place a small square to hold tees. I’ve been redoing the flooring in my garage sim and it’s a mess right now, but I’ll send you the piece for free if I can find it.

As far as LM, I’m using an EyeXO.

Wittek thanks for the clarification. That additional info is helpful. Seems to me that the Mega Mat may be the better of the two then.

Mega mat has taller fibers on top so when you hit a fat shot, it will grab the club and simulate a fat shot. The quattro mat has a tighter lie, more like fairway. The Mega mat can have a wooden tee inserted directly into the fibers and also has tee holes for rubber tees. The quattro mat only uses rubber tees for teeing up the ball.
There are no long-term issues using wood tees. The Mega Mat is commercial grade, made to withstand excessive tee use.
Mats are shipped rolled in the box. We always can do flat, but then it must go on a pallet (pricey if ordering single mat)

The Quattro not using a real tee is not an issue for me. I like one big mat. I like how the two tee holes on each side are oriented. I use one for driver (red tee) and one for other (white). My GC2 is on a slider so I have space for irons and putting.

As noted, only downfall is it doesn't take a real tee. No signs of wear yet.

I requested a demo piece of the other turf they carry that can hold a tee, which I then cut into a smaller piece and embedded it into my Quattro strip. I prefer this to the birtees and other solutions. I ended up doing somewhat of a sloppy job, but it works.

However, for full transparency, I’m currently trying out a soft strike mat and using the tee’s that come with it.

I have heard great things about the Quattro mat. Can you explain a little more about the difference between the Quattro and the Mega Mat? In slightly different ways the first sentence of both descriptions basically say that they are both the closest you can get to real turf? Then it says that the mega mat has less bounce. Would the Mega Mat be less forgiving on the body with fat shots then? I have not heard about foot and knee problems with any mats, so not sure that would be a deciding factor for me between the two. With the Mega Mat any long term issues from using real tees? Do the holes continue to close up, or eventually open up and no longer hold a tee in regularly used areas?

I switched to a Quattro. I'm a fan. I struggle from back pain due years of abuse. I was getting pain after hitting sessions on my previous mat. I've had the Quattro for a couple months now and played many rounds. No more back pain. I have a "digger" swing, and I like how the Quattro doesn't hurt my back but fat shots are short as they should be. I like a big hitting area as I use a GC2 on a slider and give me room to operate. As noted, only downfall is it doesn't take a real tee. No signs of wear yet.

I'm tempted to try mega mat based on comments above.
