Just this picture for now. I can post more when I finish but the ball rolls great when putting on itOriginally posted by tonybrown32 View Post
Cool.. dont suppose you have a photo you can share or a video of a few putts on it?
. Would be pretty helpful... reviews and photos of the TFD turfs are hard to come by.1 Photo

I got my TFD N36 padded rolled out yesterday and I like it a lot so far. It’s sitting over EVA foam tiles and with the added padding on the turf itself it’s really nice. Not squishy, but I’m hitting directly off of it and it feels solid but w just enough give that I don’t feel like it’s hurting elbow or joints.
Rolls really nice on putts as well. Same as the elite putting I think but w the 5mm pad on back. I’m cutting holes for putting cups next week when the cups arrive but test putts seem to roll really straight. No idea what stimp speed is but all I care about is knowing I’m rolling straight from 10’ away.
It’s going to be mixed use turf, my daughter already kicking soccer balls around on it with her rebound net and she’s stoked as well.
Id say I’d you are looking for inexpensive turf this is the way to go. Doesn’t feel cheap at all. For the moment I’d highly recommend.

I’m thinking the same! I got my samples and compares it to the two tone and the putting elite, I really like the 36oz face weight and the overall pad. I’m
Concerned about it being slippery on my Eva foam tiles, would rubber be better under the stance area? Also curious about the height, looks like this turf with 3/4” foam is about 1-1/4”, which is what the guy at custom design golf said I need to match the divot action. Thanks for any feedback and tips on how you did yours!

Good to hear.. I'm looking at the TFD Nylon 36. Their cheapest stuff.. the rep told me the turf is the same as the Elite, just different backing. Since I am laying it flat, no contours, they recommended the cheaper Nylon 36 instead of the elite. Not often a place recommends a cheaper option!Originally posted by bbasse View PostI got my TFD N65 padded rolled out yesterday and I like it a lot so far. Ok update. I’m actually hitting directly off the n36 padded which sits above Eva flooring...and I really like it. Firm but you can feel fat shots. Like a nice tight fairway lie. There’s enough give with the padding that I’m. Or feeling any jarring. Going to keep playing off of it directly...don’t see the need for insert j til I wear a spot out.

Did they deliver to your house, or did you have to pick it up from a warehouse? I was just about to place my order with them and just happened to read through the Terms and Conditions before ordering - it says almost right at the top that if you don't order a minimum of 300 sq.ft., they won't deliver to a residence, has to be picked up from local distribution warehouse... I called to confirm, and they said they can deliver my order (15x16') to a business, but because it's only 240 sq.ft., they won't deliver to a residence.
-
Justin They delivered to my house, no problem? I gave the delivery guy a tip and the two of us easily carried in the large roll. I got 12x15'.
try calling them...but no issue with home delivery for me. Really liking the turf and kind of wish I got an even larger roll to cover the rest of my garage.

I ended up having them deliver to my workplace. Only 10 miles away and the freight was a little cheaper since it wasn't a residence. Transported home with a truck and trailer. I ended up getting the TFD Putting Elite without the pad because I had already purchased some 1/2" EVA tiles.
Installed a couple weeks ago (sim build is taking longer than I thought), really like the look.

I got the TFD putting elite which is sitting on top of 3/4 in EVA foam exercise mats. I purchased it more to finish the sim room appearance and to practice longer putts. I mostly only hit chip shots off it since I have a different mat and use a birdieball green for putting.
I find the turf to be fairly "grabby" and not a true roll. I haven't rolled it or brushed it very much, nor have I added any infill. Because I didn't intend for it to be my primary putting surface, your experience may be better with more preparation.
Agree with bbasse about the give in the turf with padding under it. In fact, I just hit a few full shots off it and it feels great. I can’t comment on durability

I'm doing a similar build.. Is there a reason you got the 5mm backing (given that you put in all on EVA mats). Also, does the 5mm foam backing have any tack to it (like rubber) or is it just foam.... concern would be that the rubber seems like it would grab to the EVA floor better and not shift.
Thanks!!!

I figured for a few dollars I’d rather have more padding than less even with the Eva tiles. My sheet is 12x15 so large enough where I wasn’t worried about it sliding anywhere.
Another update...I can see that it’s already wearing hitting a lot of balls off one area. So I am cutting in an insert this weekend. Cutting up a hitting mat I already had.
I think it’s just not really designed for hitting balls off of.

Thanks for that update on durability bbasse. I was kind of hoping it would be durable enough to just hitt off of.. or durable enough where I would just order a few extra feet, and save some pieces to replace wear spots as time goes on... if there's notable wear in that short of time period, I think i'm going to stick with my original plan, order the N36 padded, and place my fiberbuilt performance mat system on top.. then create a 1-2 foot wide "runner" of turf built up to height on top of some additional foam tiles.. the runner will stretch from the fiberbuilt strip to the screen for sim putting... will allow me to slide my hitting area over a foot or so when needed to acommodate the very occassional lefty... if I do a cut in hitting strip, i'd need to build the floor up with more foam matts to get the height right, and just seems like needless spending having a really great fiberbuilt matt system already...

I just ordered 12x16 36 UR (without padding). Had it shipped to my office since it was cheaper (not totally sure how that will work out, but we're gonna give it a shot!). I plan on placing it down over some foam, or some stacked carpets that I have laying around. Once I get it, I will let everyone know my thoughts. For $385, that's a pretty solid deal thus far.Last edited by JakeGeezy; 04-20-2020, 04:27 PM. Reason: Edit: edited price to $385. Prior pricing was wrong.

Turf came today (crazy quick since I ordered it on Monday). I had it shipped to my office building where I work. It saved me $50 and I just put it in my car and drove it home. So, if you can find a business address to ship it to, that will save you some money. The roll is about 16 feet long so you'll need to figure out how to transport it home but most sedans have the ability to fold the back seats to access the trunk and from there you can figure out a way to do it.
Hope to have it set up middle of next wee and will follow up with a review.

Dang that was fast! Especially during these times! Awesome!

I’m ordering the Tfd nylon 36 with 5mm backing tomorrow to go down on my 12x16 plywood floor I built in my barn for my simulator. Thinking of doing a divot action mat insert for the hitting are. My question is, how think is the turf overall with the 5mm padding? Trying to decide if I need to put anything under the turf to make my insert fit flush.

Attached are 2 images that have a Divot Action insert, sample of the Turf Factory Direct Nylon 36 padded 5MM and 3/8 Plywood. I am in the process of doing the same thing. The Divot action will have to be a cutout of the plywood to be flush. By looking at the picture with the level I think 1/2 plywood will be better than the 3/8 but you decide. Hope this helps

Wanted to add to this chain to potentially provide additional help to others who might be in the search phase. I purchased the TFD nylon 36 / 5mm padded and could not be more happy with it. I bought a 12’x25’ roll (300 sq ft min) and had it shipped to my friend’s golf simulator business a few minutes from my house to save on shipping costs. Total cost was $710 ($660 + $50 shipping). My friend and I loaded it in my vehicle right off the back of the very large shipping truck. The roll was about 300lbs. You may need two people to actually move it around in your space to get the edges flush with walls, etc. Once down it lays really flat, it looks fantastic, and is a high quality product. I’m happy with how it putts as well and I would say it is a moderate speed, local muni speed. Though I like faster greens, this is not too slow for me. I could put infill down to make it faster if desired. It also really helps deaden the ball after hitting the screen and falling. Attached are photos of my in-progress garage build with the turf down.

The 23/32” subfloor is in 4x8’ sections. I cut out two 4x8’ sections on the sides and a balance ~5’x12’ section from the purchased roll. I have 18” behind the impact screen/sports screen combo to the back wall. This is to have a continuous flat 4’x20’ central section for the mevo+ and to park my truck on this side of the garage if I need to.

I will also have putting elite from turf factory arriving within the next 10 days or so. If anyone is interested ill post some pics and thoughts. I have a divot action insert built into the floor that I recessed to hopefully level out with the turf that is supposed to be 7/16” thick
