and looks like I can get everyone’s piece out of it

what I can’t do is guarantee everyone will get a tee hole
or even where the t holes will be

doesn’t look like the holes will be an issue no matter where the are for irons

but if you don’t like where the holes are when you get it just send it back to me or send it on to someone that doesnt mind

you may need to trim a rough edge or even trim a littel
i tried to be exact or a little big

it cut ok with a razor knife

ill ship out the 5 pieces tomorrow

i have one piece 11 x 24 ish piece with a small
1/4 divot in the long edge

but an ok matt

Do you have any experience with fiberbuilt? If you had to choose, not based on cost, would you go with this, fiberbuilt, or truestrike? I currently have a fiberbuilt but I've hit off a very beat up and grooved truestrike a while ago at a Golfsmith when they were still kickin a few years ago, so not the best experience.

I’m not a fibrebulit fan of all the matts I’ve hit off of it’s the most unrealistic / most forgiving and most likely to give a very false sense of your actual ball striking and swing speed
the fibers are just too tall and to weak to offer any resistance


its one plus is it’s easy on the body

my current thinking is
if your a great ball striker the matts of very little consequence
if you are working on or struggle with ball striking,
cce , truestrike and to a lesser extent the Quattro Matt are better choices.

cce is still in my mind the least forgiving and there for best Matt to promote better ball striking , it’s also the hardest on your body if you hit a lot of poor shots

trustrike isn’t bad for ball striking and is easier on the body but
from what I see the hitting surface wears very very quickly
I’ve got maybe 5000 to 7000 shots on mine and it’s showing wear already , id imagine another 3000 it’ll be done

the new Quattro Matt is also ok , maybe a little forgiving allowing the club to slide through with a little more speed than you deserve on slightly fat shots as the surface is “ slick “
jury is still out on wear as I’ve only got 200 hits on it

theres a matt I’ve hit on at two pro sim rooms
club champion and my friends place rockaway golf club

it takes a tee , feels like a looser version of cce without the supper heavy backing, to me it’s the most realistic Matt I’ve hit on
you can get through it once you’ve hit the ball , it’s not slick and if you get it fat it sucks your club up
problem is I can for the life of me figure out what it is or where to get a piece
no name , no markings and no one can tell me what it is

That's great feedback, thanks. I should've also mentioned I have a cce and also a cheap knockoff of cce that I got on eBay years ago. I have noticed some elbow pain creeping in after long sessions with the cce which I haven't experienced with the fiberbuilt, but I get what you're saying that it feels unnatural and a little too forgiving. My biggest issue is the bristle feeling when setting the club down at address and, although it does penalize fat shots as far as distance goes, there is no fear of hitting it fat because it's so forgiving. I'm at the point where I know if I've made good contact or not, so the feedback isn't that critical for me. I only use the knockoff mat in my backyard net occasionally but it almost sounds like what you're describing. It has way looser fibers than the cce and definitely eats up the club on fat shots. My feeling though is that this would not be good long term as far as injuries go. If the quattro or Chinese equivalent proves to be pretty durable this could be the way I go. Even if it's not that durable the Chinese version is pretty cheap for a little strip.

I’ll toss this out as good for thought

the Matt that’s softer than cce and sucks ur fat hits-up
is the one you want to stay in shape with

if you were an a nice fairway like driving range and hitting behind the ball all day
you’d hurt too

you certainly don’t wAnt a matt more punishing than grass
but less isn’t good either

the trick to a pain free swing over long sessions is a good swing and good contact
not a “ better Matt”

I can't really hit full shots off the mat but chips feel good. I'm worried it may be a little too forgiving but I don't think there is a perfect mat out there. I play probably 100+ holes a week indoors normally so something that won't make me develop bad habits and something that keeps me healthy would be the ideal combo.

I am going to test a bunch of them in a few weeks for spin and other attributes...

I’m getting decent spin numbers off the quatro
full 56 degree wedges 8000 avg

little pitch’s and chips
6500 on a 50 yd pitch 3500 to 4000 on a 10 yd chip

3/4 pw 7000 plus

for me those are decent numbers

I think the softer cce type mat we're talking about might be the allturfmats super tee. I've seen it called matzilla or monster tee but I think they are the same. It has looser fibers than cce and is sort of squishy. My issue with it is how much it grabs the club, even on good shots with ball first contact. I like how I can hit down and through with the fiberbuilt and it doesn't kill me like a hard range mat. How do you feel that the quattro performs in this aspect? Does it "give" enough to replicate the sensation of taking a divot?

Very similar feel to trustrike
firm but it gives enough that you can hit into it

my issue with the fibrebulit isn’t that you can’t hit down into it

its that if you hit down into it behind the ball the Matt doesn’t hold you up much at all you come thru the shot with all of or most of your club speed making slightly bad feel like good

the looser Matt feels more real to me
ball then turf slows the club and your forced to power through

Matts are a big compromise so you need to pick what works fir you

great ball strikers can hit all day off cement

II have the all turf mat here at home. I can send you a piece if you want to see if that's the same one you like at the studio. I was using it for a long time but I was getting some neck pain starting so I switched over to something else

I already cut into it when I was going to drop something into it but it's a little too squishy under my feet for a stance mat now
