Why I went back to Fiberbuilt from Quattro mat

I was originally disenchanted with the fiberbuilt as i felt it was kinda like hitting off a hairbrush. I moved to a Quattro strip and was initially very happy with it as i felt it matched well with the firm Texas fairways i am used to.

Then Coronavirus happened...i started wanting to play more and without playing real golf as much, i dove back into my SIM for more than just skytrak practice range work. I discovered E6 connect and find it so much more enjoyable than the original TGC (never tried TGC2019).

Bottom line I was practicing and playing a ton more and concluded that the fiberbuilt strip is simply the easiest on the joints. The Quattro led to some soreness in the elbow and wrist to the point where I subconsciously started trying to pick the ball to avoid the impact. I am glad i kept my fiberbuilt and didn't sell it.

Update - I received my Fiberbuilt 1x3 grass insert (Fiberbuilt On Course Grass) yesterday and spent several hours cutting an insert into Quattro mat, cutting 19/32 plywood to fit under Quattro to get FB insert even with Quattro mat. I am not happy with the result - does not look great. Purchasing a full mat from FB and returning the 1x3 insert. I ordered this one - https://fiberbuiltgolf.com/collectio...em-nylon-grass but not sure the difference compared to https://fiberbuiltgolf.com/collectio...erformance-mat besides the size of the grass insert. Looks like the stance mat may be different - traditional (original) vs performance?

You have to strike the ball correctly to get your proper distance with the fiberbuilt and it saves your joints. Maybe not as precise as cce but for me it transfers to outdoor ball striking nicely. The divot should start well after the ball position anyway. As for sim play fiberbuilt does provide an advantage for chipping and especially flop shots.

I found most guys that go piece meal did it because they already had a stance mat and later purchased the FB strip to cut into their existing mat.

For example, looks like Quattro mat is $400. Plus FB strip which is 250. So your at 650 already.
True. But I wonder if there is a big difference on how the Fiberbuilt Traditional Stance Mat is to hit off of compared to a Quattro that may be nicer to hit off of. So as to not always hit off the FB strip.

what do you guys think of the Quattro as a stance mat and adding a Fiberbuilt strip? And can hit off Fiberbuilt strip or Quattro for two different feels? Or hit 100% off Fiberbuilt and super cheap stance mat?

Thanks for the post, I’ve been debating getting a different insert for my fiberbuilt, like most I don’t like the surface as it just seems weird. I guess I’ll stick with it a little longer.

I also went with the Quattro mat back in January and since then have played a ton of TGC2019 and lots of practice on the driving range and Skytrak. I have developed bad pain in my left elbow (on top around bone and upper forearm). I also got trigger finger in the pinky finger of my left hand. I have noticed since playing more outside, the pain is not bad outside and only flares up when I play inside on the Quattro mat. I just purchased the 12" x 35" Fiberbuilt grass panel insert which I plan to cut into my Quattro mat. I believe the Quattro is about 1.25" and the FB is about 1.75" so will probably need to add a layer of plywood under the Quattro and cut out of the FB insert. Has anyone else done this? If so, please provide details. Thanks!!

    I have (had):
    - CCE (worst for being injury prone)
    - Divot Action : good , but too easy for ball striking
    - Fiberbuilt: Best for preventing injury ( not best for ball striking practice)
    - Quattro: this one seems to be the best compromise of good practice , and less injury prone .

I believe the perfect mat does not exist , so in the end it’s a compromise .

Any interest in selling your Truestrike if you are going to fiberbuilt? I’m in the market for one.

Never had an issue with the Truestrike, but like all of you am very interested to get my fiberbuilt incorporated into my sim room. Might take a bit as my golf course finally opened this week, but let me see where I can get to. I know so many people are really wanting to try and get the most realistic experience and agree that the fiberbuilt might not punish enough for those that hit a bit fat. However, for me I would take being able to play golf for many years to come injury free as being the most important aspect of my game.

Could the foresight mats be these on the Fiberbuilt site?

An upgrade from a typical hitting mat, our Fiberbuilt Performance Turf artificial turf golf tee boxes provide a solid foundation for you to practice your swing.

Glad to hear that. I made a post earlier today about this with my CCE mat. I'm going to buy a fiberbuilt. Anyone know why the ForeSight fiberbuilt mat doesn't have a hitting strip, but the mats on the fiberbuilt website all do?

Funny. In a similar situation. Picked up a strip of Quattro, have been using it and like it, but now trying a DIY divot action and going to try my fiberbuilt flight deck out again. I never get joint pain but rather pain around my left scapula/trap/upper back. Didn’t have this with fiberbuilt . I also may use my All Turf mat (currently my stance mat) but it’s just so damn grabby
