Wow what a difference this makes! The club bounces and you can even hear the difference. My wrists and elbows and shoulders are smiling! Even my wife noticed a difference so it must be a big deal! I got a bigger piece of the gel 36x20 so I can move around the skytrak even more and get more life out of the mat.

Hi Brian that looks pretty cool, in australia i can only seem to find 25x25x2cm gel pads available via ebay.com.au - where did you get the 36cm long gel pad from?
I ordered 2x of these smaller mats (they are only 35 aud each with the hope I can place them together to create a 50x25x2 cm hitting area, but im worried that if I impact near the join the first matt will compress and then if the swing moves onto the second gel mat it may hit a ridge - sounds potentially terminal for a golf club!Last edited by nickcurrie; 08-20-2020, 03:35 AM.

Thanks Brian - the gel pads available in australia some in 1cm or 2cm thickness - now the MDF board i was planning on setting this in comes in either 25mm or 18mm thickness. In your experiance would you reccomend getting the 25mm piece and using a 5mm underlay to make the gel flush - or cane I save a bit of cash and get the cheaper 18mm MDF and hope the 2mm makes little difference once i have the astroturf screwed to the board? I have been lucky enough to get a hold of some hockey astroturf for free from a friend of mine.

DIY Modification
I’ve been using this DIY setup for about 3 years now and am on my second order from AllTurf 5x5. I’m interested in modifying the setup to swap out sections of turf related the gel pad (I.e. rough, fairway, maybe a sand insert) during play to practice different surfaces and true interaction. Any ideas how to attach the 18”x24” different hitting mat surfaces? I’m stumped on how to keep it in place but be able to quickly swap out during play.
