😀 another sim golfer converted. I started out using the CCE as most people said it was the "best". Honestly the Divot Action Insert beats it in any and all categories.

Is it too forgiving? How is it with putting in TGC?

My elbow has been hurting for a while, I think caused by hitting from a CCE mat. I am looking at getting something else. Considering truestrike and divot action. I live near Atlanta, so I may try and test a divot action mat out (I think the guy that sells them is based near ATL).

Yes I believe he is around there. I honestly switched from the divot action to a CCE mat. The only reason being is that the divot action had a hole cut out for one of those rubber tees that holds a "real" tee. Well with the Skytrak that rubber tee didn't last long as my irons sliced that puppy to pieces. And so the "hole" that was left became annoying to hit around. So if I ordered another one I would order it just plain with no precut holes.

And actually the design of the divot action with the CCE style turf would be a PERFECT combination. Is it too forgiving. Probably. The fat shots are nowhere near what they are with a CCE. No doubt. Putting was actually better on the divot action than the CCE. Hope that's helpful.

Can someone tell me how thick or deep the insert is for the divot action? I'm still using my hitting platform from the Optishot days and would like to see if I could just drop one of those in and save some cash. Currently using a CCE insert but I'm still battling tendonitis in my lead wrist from hitting balls on it all winter. I'm going a different direction this winter, it just creates too much friction with the club in my opinion. I have two fiberbuilt inserts that are much easier on the body but I don't like how the club wants to sink down in the grass fibers. Thanks

It is only about 1 1/8 inches so I had to add 1/4 spacer to bring it up to my CCE. Definitely easier on the body than the straight CCE, I prefer it. I also got the sand insert which is surprisingly realistic and unforgiving on a fat shot. If you get the sand insert you will have to dye it or get a dark cover if you have a skytrak, it can't see the ball on a light mat.

I have the divot action regular pad for hitting practice/warm up, but not on the simulator. The pad I have over the sim is their "all-skills" mat, which is REALLY tough on the wrists! I do like it better than the fiberbuilt, but trying to figure out what to replace it with. I was planning on trying a CCE mat. I thought those were like real turf. How many shots does it take to feel wrist pain on that? How realistic is it?

The CCE feels great if you make good contact. I rarely hit one fat enough in real life that I chunk it, but for some reason this isn't the case indoors. Especially when getting loose, I tend to hit behind the ball a couple times indoors. With the CCE, the grass fibers just grab the club face and really resist. All it takes is one of those to re-aggravate my sore wrist and then I'm useless. I would say that it has improved my ball striking due to the simple fact of self preservation and not wanting to feel that pain. Haha. In my opinion, there is no perfect golf mat. You just flat out can't reproduce the feel of real turf with an artificial surface. You just have to find the mat that works best for your swing type. The CCE is great for a "picker" of the golf ball, but if you go down after the ball it may give you trouble. Others who have a descending angle of attack may love the CCE, I just don't think it's for me.

So one other question to those with the divot action... Is it basically turf attached to a flexible piece of plexiglass and nothing underneath it? Is it any louder than a typical mat when you make contact?

Turf attached to plexiglass with very soft foam pieces underneath it to give some support and cushion so t springs back when hit. I do like hitting off of it on my practice pad, but can see why he makes to many caution statements about it for the sim setup. If you miss it fat at all, you'd hit plexiglass and break it.

I am working on a mat to replace the turf for my divot action system over my Protee Board and I'll post a follow up if it works out.

The divot action one that I saw had mat attached to plexiglass. Then on the bottomside on the outside corners it had small pieces of foam and lets say they are an inch high. Then in the middle bottomside on the outer edge it had a small piece of foam that was about a 1/2" high. So when you hit, it flexes down in the middle until the foam hits the ground.

I have emailed John both through this site and through his website and I have not heard from him. Can I still get a divot action for my protee?? When we called the store they said that they carrying protee a year ago. We did not talk to him. Anyone have any insight?? I would love to try it out even if it could not be returned.. I would assume all the risk!!!! John???

So, again, I think the system that John put together for the Protee is a great setup and nice to have the board covered and protected from dust and stuff. I did not like the quality of the "All Skills Mat", however and as mentioned I was working on a replacement mat to put over the plexiglass. I got 3 from Real Feel Mats after making him a template.he sent the mats to a water cutter and they were cut perfectly. The grass did need to be trimmed a bit to not cover the sensors, but I told him this and I'd bet he would cut them more if requested. He was great to work with, very responsive and very well priced.

The 3 mats I got were the CCE (Country Club Elite), Proplay, and Duffer, and that is in order of grass fiber thickness. The one that I thought was best was the Proplay for how I felt as well as the height of it.
