  • Fiberbuilt strip versus flight deck

To those that have both, is the material the same? Some say the flight deck is the cheap version. I bought the insert off amazon and leveled it out, but don’t love how bristly it is...maybe that’s how it’s supposed to be. Been considering getting the 1x3 strip instead and building a more solid hitting station.

I have the strip after using the flightdeck... I would say that its the same as far as it being the bristles. As for quality. I cannot speak to that. My strip has held up extremely well.

I only have the Flight Deck but when I asked Fibrebuilt they told me it’s the same mat/material/performance. I was a bit skeptical as it looks different even in the photos but not sure why they would lie to me as I was asking about which product to buy based on performance.

Yea that was my biggest dilemma. It looked different and didn’t want to end up with same product. I feel like hard bristles are catching/manipulating my club face through impact.

Is the 5x5 Square Performance Turf Tee Box material good to hit from?

I had both and I did not think they were the same material, they definitely did not feel the same. I don’t know if it was due to usage on the panels vs brand new on the flight deck, but I have panels that have very little usage as well. I also just didn’t like the small area of the flight deck

I agree with this, no way are they the same material, just got the 5x4 performance mat that comes with the 1x3 strip. The flight deck has very hard bristles and the insert bristles seem softer but more dense. I would say the flight deck was still good for injury prevention, but the insert feels much better to hit from and the ball doesn't look weird sitting on it.

Okay, good to know. I sprung for the hitting strip. I think I’m gonna built up a mat with it and swap out the flight deck

UPDATE I just received the fiberbuilt 1x3 strip. The grass is identical to the flightdeck. just a different color.

Do you think it has the same stiffness, and roughly the same amount of fibers?

For me the biggest difference is the shape and size. I always found the stupid tee holder on the launch pad getting in the way for anything other than driver shots. I have a GC2 so at least I can move the ball around a little bit, but with the strip the tee holder is in a much better position. I also find it easier to align my GC2 and line up my shot with the rectangular mat instead of the oval. It was always a little distracting lining up to the oval mat.

Yea I like the rectangular shape and it’s more appealing to eye. Ended up keeping it.
        Working...
