    Projector height and throw distance

i finally got a kit to hang my projector off 12 ft from the ceiling. But here is a dumb question. What is the exactly distance from the screen and the height should I put it?

i googled and used the projector calculator, but it said 17ft 6 throw distance and 12 ft from the floor is the best height.

But if I installed on that spec, is would be way far back, I would be kinda in the way of the projection.

or should I just install it right above my hitting mat and 10-12 ft above the floor. Then just adjust the screen size with the projector menu.

any advise? Just want to make sure I'm doing it right before screwing everything in.

What is your anticipated height and width of the picture on the screen? How high are your ceilings? Which model projector do you have? I can calculate for you if you get me this info.

My screen is 156x120. My ceiling is 22" high and I'm using the Epson 2045. The google throw distance calculator said 17.6 ft throw distance and 11.4 ft off the floor.

So basically my screen is 13ft wide and 10 ft high.

You would be pushing the limits of the projector, as far as brightness goes, at 9' wide using a 4:3 aspect ratio and 12' wide using a 16:9 ratio so your image would be 6'9" x9' or 6'9"x12' both at 16'. It also looks like the projector needs to be in the middle of the image. If that's the case, you'll definitely have shadows. Here's a link to mess around with the calculations http://www.projectorcentral.com/Epso...ulator-pro.htm

Thank you. How do I know what is a optimal height for the projector? 10ft or 12ft off the floor?

The calculator from epson said 17.4 throw distance and 9 ft off the floor is the optimal distance. But 9ft seems too low, afraid the driver will hit it.

9ft is fine if it's above the hitting area. I think the bottom of your image would about 5 1/2 feet off of the ground though. I'm pretty sure you would need the projector at the height of the middle of the image, so that would put it about 3 1/2 feet off of the ground unless you are going to put it higher and correct it with keystone.

But no one would have it at the middle of image. So pretty much everyone with a simulator is using keystone then?

The projector you are using has it in the middle of the image. Many others on here use either the benq or the optoma and their image starts below/above the projector. So no keystone or very minimal
