I think the most commonly used projectors on the forum are the BenQ HT2150ST and the Optoma GT1080Darbee. My screen is 14'x10' and I hit from about 9-10' and I have the Optoma. I think it works well. BenQ has a new projector out with higher lumens, that should work, which is the TH617ST. The Optoma EH460ST also steps up the lumens.
I think it depends on how much you are planning to invest in your simulator and what your expectations are for image quality. Whatever you end up doing, I recommend going 16 x 10 aspect ratio if possible. I just switched from 16 x 9 and the immersion factor is considerably better.

abirdie4me Just read your comment about switching from the 16 x 9 to the 16 x 10. If you would can you please expand on the reason you switched with as much detail as possible. I am on the verge of finally pulling the trigger on a projector BUT have read about more than a handful of guys on this site making the same switch as you and I am trying to understand why the 16 x 10 is advantageous over the 16 x 9. Thanks a lot for your opinion (and anyone else who may want to chime in on this)!
Epson Home Cinema 4000 4K PRO-UHD 3-Chip Projector with HDR.https://www.amazon.com/Epson-Home-Ci...n+projector+4k or the Epson 4010 which has almost all 5 star reviews on amazon.https://www.amazon.com/Epson-Home-Ci...n+projector+4kI am hitting 13 feet from the screen. My camera is mounted 23 feet from the screen and about 12 foot high. I do not get any shadows on the screen from the golf swinger. I have about 12 foot ceilings in my garage. The picture is amazing. This will cost about between $1,400 to $,1,800 though. The screen in the picture below is 10 x 10 with another 2 1/2 feet on both sides. The total size of the picture then is 15 x 10'. I'm sure I could zoom out another foot to make it 16 x 10 feet total. I did not have enough space in my garage at the time I initially put this together to spread out my screen flat to make it 16 feet wide. It is easy to set up, has lens shift, focus and zoom adjustments. No audio out on the 4000 model. You have to send the audio out through hdmi. In my case to my stereo. I have my projector connect by hdmi to my Denon Receiver AVRX4300X which allows me to play two video and two audio sources at the same time. I can watch and listen to my 4k tv while I can play and listen to TGC at the same time. Or I can have TGC sim on both TV and the projector.
Poor4UK I am strongly thinking about purchasing the projector you got (BenQ TH671ST). I was hoping you could give an update on your experience with it and your overall happiness with your selection? Thanks in advance for your input?

I just got that projector. Im not familiar with projectors so I don't have any way to compare it. I really like it though. 16:9
Set around 9ft from screen 13ft X 88 inches.

The difference between 16:10 and 16:9 (1080p) projectors is 120 extra lines of vertical space. This means the image comes down almost to the floor for me on the 16:10 projector, where the bottom of the image was about a foot off the floor on my older projector. It's a nice benefit, but I wouldn't call it a deal-breaker. In fact, I switched as much for the increased brightness as for the extra image height. If I had it to do over, I would probably just stay with my older BenQ 1085st, it was perfectly fine and was able to mount closer to the screen (which prevented shadows).
