  • Offset floor projector to allow putting - much distortion?

To be able to putt using SK, I assume I need to offset floor projector a foot or so. I read that using digital techniques to correct this offset (keystone, etc.) degrades image quality. Will this small offset cause much problem? (It does not looks like many projectors offer true horizontal shift other than keystone.)

It will cause distortion and static images will be affected the most. Some projectors only offer keystone on one axis. Straight lines and text will be most affected. Motion video is harder to detect.

So is distortion enough to mount overhead instead of floor? I had hoped to avoid that, but it can be done.

Just my 2 cents, but I only see benefits in a ceiling mount. The projector is out of harms way, no balls can hit it, etc. A floor mounted projector is subject to tripping over as well as some ball strikes.

How wide is your hitting area? A better approach would be to center the projector and offset the hitting area, then you don't have to have keystone adjustment.

It can be 12' wide. So, having ST slightly off center will not mess things up? Thanks!

No, mine is offset about 12" and its fine. You can adjust the offset in the software for ST and TGC to use the new centerline.

        Thanks for that info.

BTW, do you find that the r-motion is accurate enough to add to the ST setup?

R-Motion only works in TGC but I find it helpful and pretty accurate.
