Hang directly above, toward the screen, or behind me? If I buy a 10' wide screen and I'm hitting 10' back, so my throw distance is 1:1? Is that normal throw? Thanks.

The throw is different depending on the manufacturer and the model of projector. The throw distance also depends on the projected size you want on your screen. You may get shadows on your screen if the projector is behind you. Short throw projectors usually don't have this problem since you'll be behind the projector in most cases.
