  • EIKI 308u 6000 lumen 16:10 projector

I just put a EIKI 308u 6000 lumen projector in for my new sim, and I have to say I love it. I see a lot of 16:9 projectors on here, but unless you can go 16' vertical I'm not sure why more people aren't doing 16:10? The best advice I got when building my Sim was to built for your horizontal height, not vertical length. 16:10 gives you the same horizontal resolution as 16:9, and quite a bit extra vertically, which adds a lot to the immersive effect.

This is the projector that ForeSight is using for their Sim-In-A-Box. I got one slightly used on ebay with 100 hours for $1000. Have it mounted 17' from my screen, which is 13.5x8.5 (Carl's biggest 16:10 DIY screen). Even in full daylight or with all the lights in the room on, I get a bright vibrant image.

Has full keystoning and image shift. Big zoom lens. Could not have been easier to install. Video games, TV and movies look way better than I would expect. I'm using HDBaseT to throw the image to the projector from a switch I have installed. That allows me to use the Nintendo, PS4 and Computer all on the screen using an ethernet cable to transfer the image and not a HDMI cable. Easier for cable management. I'm then using the audio out on the projector via a ethernet dongle to send the audio back to my rack room, and have all the audio play over my in-wall THX speakers in the sim room.

I'd say definitely consider EIKI if you're looking for a big, bright image with a projector that can be installed almost anywhere because of the extreme 4-corner keystoning that it can do.

At 17' away, do you get shadows from the golfer on the screen? How high is it mounted to get your top of the image to be 8.5" tall?

No shadows hitting from from 11 feet away. My enclosure is 5 feet deep, and there's a 3" drop from the enclosure top to the top of the screen. Moving back 17" that meant I could mount it about 9.5" taller than the 8.5' screen.

I would have greatly preferred if there was about a 8" drop from the top of the enclosure to the top of the screen, it would have allowed me to mount it even higher, but as it is right now it works perfectly for the setup.

I got the same projector in my SIM IN A BOX but after about 5 months the Keystone adjustment went out of wack and now I can't get it adjusted correctly. Up to that point I loved the projector. Worked flawlessly for 5 months. I have the projector on the mid level of the cart that came with the kit off to the right and just like they show in the advertisement. Really frustrated as its an expensive projector.
