I just put a EIKI 308u 6000 lumen projector in for my new sim, and I have to say I love it. I see a lot of 16:9 projectors on here, but unless you can go 16' vertical I'm not sure why more people aren't doing 16:10? The best advice I got when building my Sim was to built for your horizontal height, not vertical length. 16:10 gives you the same horizontal resolution as 16:9, and quite a bit extra vertically, which adds a lot to the immersive effect.
This is the projector that ForeSight is using for their Sim-In-A-Box. I got one slightly used on ebay with 100 hours for $1000. Have it mounted 17' from my screen, which is 13.5x8.5 (Carl's biggest 16:10 DIY screen). Even in full daylight or with all the lights in the room on, I get a bright vibrant image.
Has full keystoning and image shift. Big zoom lens. Could not have been easier to install. Video games, TV and movies look way better than I would expect. I'm using HDBaseT to throw the image to the projector from a switch I have installed. That allows me to use the Nintendo, PS4 and Computer all on the screen using an ethernet cable to transfer the image and not a HDMI cable. Easier for cable management. I'm then using the audio out on the projector via a ethernet dongle to send the audio back to my rack room, and have all the audio play over my in-wall THX speakers in the sim room.
I'd say definitely consider EIKI if you're looking for a big, bright image with a projector that can be installed almost anywhere because of the extreme 4-corner keystoning that it can do.
