Setup trouble with Optoma projector

New to the forum. I'm having trouble sizing the projected image to fill my screen. I have a swing bay system from Rain or Shine which included an Optoma EH 200st projector. This particular model does not have a zoom lever on the unit even though the manual shows one. There is a zoom function in the menu area of the projector software but magnifies the image it does not fill the screen space. I've used the Optoma projector calculator to determine the correct distance from the screen to position the projector and have even validated that position with Rain or Shine tech people. Any thoughts? I'm considering moving the projector back. It's ceiling mounted.

Try taking the projector down. Get a chair or step ladder and move back while holding the projector up at the correct height until the image fills the screen.

What is the size of your screen?

I ran into the same problem with my Optoma GT1080HDR. I actually expected a zoom lens and was confused when it didn't have one.

I used the calculator as well but threw that out and just mounted in the spot that gave me the size of image I needed. It was a major pain in the %&*$ and took forever but it was the only way.

You will have to move your projector back and play around with the distance to get what you need.

It does not look like your projector has a zoom and thus need to place the projector at the correct distance based off what the throw calculator let's you know. Throw ratio seems to suggest a ten foot wide image needs to be at five feet, but check the calculator.

Exactly what I was thinking about playing with the position and moving it further from the screen. I didn't want to if there was a different solution but I think there's not. I've checked and re-checked the position calculation and where it is should be correct, but it just doesn't fill the screen. What are 4 more holes in my ceiling anyway? I'm 6"6' from the screen now. The screen is 9"8" x 7"3'.

Unfortunately the throw ratio is approximate and seems to vary slightly. Use ladders and hold the projector to the ceiling with the mount on it. Mark where to mount when you get it just right. It’s a pain, but just a one-time pain.

I had the same issue with the optoma GT1080 so I mounted mine this way. Luckily it's in the garage and doesn't have to look nice. See post 10 here for a clearer picture

One thing that caught me was the distance is calculated from the front of the lens and not from the projector mount. My mount actually has the projector fairly forward as well amplifying the issue. Fortunately I did have a zoom feature which helped mitigate the error.

This is what I did inspired by wbond's setup thanks. It's an Optoma mount which I can slide along the aluminium u profile edging. I can make lots of adjustments and made initial setup much easier. I've since used trunking to hide the wires.

Nice job, blends nicely into the ceiling and makes adjusting very easy for projectors with no manual zoom feature.

Exactly, installing a ceiling projector is a pain, in my new set up i have a sliding setup. Easy to make adjustments and future proofs for what ever comes next...
