Optoma GT1090HDR

Is anyone running this projector with an EYEXO that can confirm the close placement of the projector doesn't interfere with the EYEXO or vice versa?

I bought a 16'x10' mill-sourced screen that I'm planning to cut down to size and finish so I have some flexibility in the dimensions. I'm leaning towards a 183"x103" (~ 15'x8.5) 'projectable image, which if I go with a 10' impact-to-screen distance, places the EYEXO at 6.5' and the projector at 7'7" . The only way to increase separation between the units is to move the stance mat closer to the screen which at 8' impact-to-screen creates a 3'2" separation, but the impact zone may be too close to the screen for ball bounce-back .

This is my first time building a golf sim and I may be overthinking this, but I'd rather be safe while I can still change projectors since my Optoma 1090 is still unboxed.

Also don't forget, the center of the lens of your projector will need to be 15" above the top of your image. So that puts the center of the lens at 9'9", but looks like you only have 9'4". You might have a problem there.

So, he would only be able to achieve about an 8' image height setup this way? Otherwise it would work fine correct?

A little off topic, but how would this work with an enclosure that has a roof? The reason I ask, I am building a simulator and got the GT1090 HDR, I'm also planning on getting the Carl's DIY enclosure. I was planning to place the projector low enough so that it can "see" the top of the screen (i.e. so the top won't be blocked by the enclosure's roof), but according to your comment I'll need to place it higher.

I hadn't thought about that, so the max height that would be supported would be 97" if I'm understanding this correctly?

I’m also using a base system for the putting area that is 2” high, does that in turn reduce the overall image to 95” I suppose?

Th3m1lkm0n5t3r probably better to map it out on paper drawing lines from center of projector to top and bottom of image and then drawing the enclosure top and see if it crosses the path.

RJBoogie Your max height will be determined by your ceiling height minus the distance to the center of the lens when mounted minus the vertical offset. If you are building up the floor, you're losing height there as well then.

Diceberg - I ended up returning the Optoma as I needed a little more forgiveness in my setup, and went with a Benq projector instead. I’m 95% done with my build and just need to figure out protection for my stealth roller when using wedges and a few small details.

Looks really nice! Where did you source those foam tiles and how do they attach to the ceiling?

Foreman33 I ended up getting the Benq LK953ST and mounted it at 12’4” just a few inches behind my hitting zone. Vertical offset is awesome as I have the projector mounted with a 4” shallow mount.
fortysixandtwo I ordered these and glued them to 2” insulation foam from Home Depot using 3M spray, then I screwed the panels into the ceiling:

I have been searching the forum for weeks as I am in the preliminary stages of my build. Yours is very similar to mine I am planning on the EYEXO mounted on 10ft ceilings with the same BenQ953 projector. Does anybody have any input on trying to project the image close to the top of the ceiling? I was going to try and go with a 16:9 format and purchase a 18X10’ unfinished screen. I don’t mind going with a 16X9 sized screen l but I thought if I can go bigger why not? Any thoughts would be much appreciated...

Curious as to how your projector is named in windows. For some reason my projector shows up with a name of the 1080HDR instead of the 1090HDR. Also, do you know what the latest firmware is for the 1090HDR? Thanks

Optoma frequently uses generic model numbers to identify the projector, such as 1080p or 1080HDR. They haven't issued any firmware updates for this model.
