  • Ceiling mount projector for 9' ceiling and screen that is 8' or 8.5' high

Hi, It looks like many people like the Optoma GT1090HDR. However, when I plug this data into the Optoma website calculator, it is telling me that the projector needs to sit 15" above the top of screen with a ceiling mount. So, if my ceiling is 9', then subtracting 15", my maximum screen height is only 7'9".

It seems like tons of people have 9' ceilings, so I'm assuming there is an obvious answer, but finding it seems like a needle in a haystack. So...
    1. what is the best projector that allows for an 8' or 8.5' screen with a 9' ceiling? (maybe 7'9" is enough? but I thought the goal was to maximize height)
    2. ideally is there a projector that lets you move the projector toward the right a foot or two so all righties (including beginners and kids) can easily avoid it?

    Thanks so much!

Yes, it's annoying how much vertical offset many Optoma projectors have. The 1090HDR has vertical keystone adjustment, so technically you could still mount it at the height of your image, then tilt it up and dial in the vert keystone adjustment. But other Optoma projectors (like the EH460ST) have significant image degradation with that much keystone, so it's not ideal.

The BenQ TH671ST has only about 2" vertical offset, and much better image quality with the little amount of keystone you would need. It also has a longer throw, so projector will be further back and kids couldn't hit it.

Avoid horizontal offset if you can - the 1090HDR has it, but again, will affect the image quality.

Keep in mind that if you have a top enclosure surface coming straight out from the screen, you'll need the center of the projector lens to be just below that to avoid cutting off the image.

I have BenQ TH671ST units in stock, it's hard to go wrong with them when ceiling-mounting on the center line: https://store.gunghogolf.com/BenQ-TH...hed-p255287242
