    Overhead projector positioning.

Assuming golfers that play on my simulator are average height, with a 10 foot ceiling how far forward can I safely place the projector with a short mount, about 8” to bottom of the projector?

Oops should have specified how far forward from directly over the hitting spot.

4-5 ft forward of ball should be safe unless you get flippy with a lob wedge. But at ball to 4 feet behind is safer, hence why projectors like the BenQ TH671ST with throw ratios around 0.7 - 0.8 are popular with golf sim users.

Been looking at that projector. Why does the throw ratio have a range?

Because it has optical zoom - makes mounting position more flexible, easier to perfectly fill the screen.
