8 feet and 10 inches or so. Since my screen is 8 feet tall, wont the projector be more like 7 feet off the ground anyways?

Same size screen I have, using BenQ TH671ST - 9-1/2 feet back. Projector has optical zoom so range is 8' 10" - 10' 7".

Do you have any issues with brightness? I put that distance in on projector central and it said "Reduce image size. Image brightness is too low"

Projector Central's Estimate at that distance says "10 fL Reduce image size. Image brightness is too low" and next to that you can click Manufacturers spec and it says "32 fL Recommended image brightness for rooms with high ambient light".

I have no problem with brightness, of course it is brighter controlling ambient light but all projectors are that way. Seems plenty bright to me.

How far away are you hitting from? Any objections to having the projector a little closer to the screen? I think you'll find better options in the 7-9 foot range which would be fine with a flush mount.

I'm planning to hit for 10 feet away. I'm a high ball hitter and have some concerns with my wedges hitting the ceiling.....especially if I open my club face I will put some netting on the side and the top. The Carl's Place enclosure will stick out 5 feet. And I plan to get the EXOEYE so that will be 7 feet from the screen.

I’m 10 1/2 feet away and I constantly hit ceiling with wedges, I would think moving closer to the screen would reduce that. If you do consider moving closer you could also look at the optoma gt1080 projector, think that one would sit 6 - 6-1/2 foot back but may not work with your ceiling height as I think it has a 13” offset.

Hard to beat the BenQ TH671ST for those requirements. I list the reasons it's one of the most popular projectors for golf sims at https://store.gunghogolf.com/BenQ-TH...NEW-p265749740

And the reason they're sold out most places

The BenQ is a 16:9 projector. If the OP is using a 4:3 picture, what happens? Does he zoom in until the image fills the screen side to side?

Wouldn't the OP be better off with a native 4:3 projector? These are classified as "business" projectors correct? Still learning this stuff and trying to confirm my assumptions.

Projectors have a native aspect ratio, which is their natural or default aspect ratio and they are designed with those setups in mind. However, the vast majority of them are capable of toggling between different aspect ratios with just the push of a button, including that BenQ. The resolution (and image size) simply changes according to whichever aspect ratio you choose.

There are plenty of projectors that are 4:3 native in standard definition resolutions. There are also some 4:3 native projectors in HD resolutions but the selection is a little more sparse. 16:9 native projectors offers by far the most selection. Also, the HD projectors that are 4:3 native are quite a bit more expensive than the 16:9 natives. And an HD 16:9 that is changed to 4:3 will give you a better resolution than a standard definition projector that is 4:3 native.
