Projector Recommendations

Hello everyone, I just signed up to this fantastic website. I recently went for a first time club fitting and fell in love with what you can do with a home launch monitor and simulator, so I decided to turn my garage into a simulator bay. I am asking for any help you can recommend for a projector so I will tell you what I have so far. My usable space is 16'3" with a height of 10'5". I am awaiting the Mevo+ I purchased and the Carl's premium impact screen which measures 7'7' x 10' so the diagonal is 144" and a 4:3 aspect ratio. I also purchased the TGC 2019 simulation package. It says the Mevo+ should be 8' from the ball so that leaves me with 8'3" from ball to screen. Any help you can give a novice in selecting a good projector with good resolution for the simulator would be much appreciated. My max $$ would be $1,500 for the projector but have no problem going lower if the image would still be good. Thank you in advance!!

I'm really in exactly the same situation. Ordered a Mevo+ and have a 4:3 screen (12.5 x 9.4). Planning to play Awesome Golf and probably the free courses coming with the Mevo on an iPad Pro.

If someone could help Jack and me out with this problem, I would be grateful

Determine your throw ratio and then know about vertical offset, which is the distance that the projector must be mounted above the top of the image.

Here is a popular sim projector for example =

So in Wessel's case, it would mount 8'4'' from the screen and be positioned 17 inches above the screen. Use the sliders to see how the mounting distance changes everything.

Once you know the throw ratio and vertical offset you need, you can sort through the various projectors to find some that will fit your space.

Try to get at least 9' of ball flight with your Mevo+; the longer the ball flight, the more accurate reads you'll get with longer clubs (faster ball speeds).

Just when I was about to pull te trigger on the BenQ TH671ST I read about the BenQ TK700STi 4K HDR that will be launched this month. It's fairly priced (€1199), but can I see this projector as the successor of the TH672ST and does this projector will be worth the difference in price? Let me know what you guys think

There will always be something just a bit better about to be released! At some point you just need to go with what is available and enjoy the sim. All depends on your timelines I suppose. Looks like a great projector albeit a bit light on lumens.

It's definitely a nice deal on a 4k. Just make sure your computer is strong enough to produce 4k otherwise it's meaningless.

Thank you for all of the information, I am looking forward to getting my projector and installing to the ceiling now that I have a better understanding of vertical limit. I can't wait for my Mevo+ to arrive!!

I purchased the Epson EB-2250U as it has a 16:10 ratio, very high brightness even on eco mode, and fairly silent on eco. Also since my proctor is about 6 meters from the screen, many projectors can't throw that large from far away. (318cm width @4:3 aspect)
