  • BenQ TK700STi

I've been tracking this projector for awhile waiting for it's release. I ordered it today - as it just became available on the BenQ website. After doing a lot of research, it seems to fit my needs and is 4k at a reasonable price.

Right now it says that I will receive it 4/29, so I'll let everyone know how it looks.. Is anyone else planning to get this one?

TK700STi, the console gaming projector offering RPG, FPS, SPG game modes without sacrificing true 4K UHD graphics with lightning-quick 16ms input lag.

I just bought the TK700STi and I'm building my enclosure right now. It appears you have the projector more flush with the ceiling? Projector calculator says it should be 9" below the top of the image?

huntsaver Mine is on a Crimson AV JR3 Mount (recommended by GunghoGolf) that's directly on the ceiling, so it's not quite flush but only a few inches off. It casts the screen down, not up, so the image is probably 9-10" below the lens. Here is a picture I used from the BenQ calculator, and it's about what I ended up doing... With the Lens zoom and the mount adjustments, it's pretty easy to get it dialed in if you mount it within a certain range.

Question from a projector newbie, building out my first garage simulator and looking at this projector. Screen will be about 10' wide by 9.5' tall. Hitting area about 9 or 10 feet from the screen. The Projector Central throw calculator indicates that I should mount it from the ceiling anywhere between 15 and 18 feet from my screen. However, I have garage rails to deal with, so the furthest I could mount it from the screen, while still centering the projector, is 13 or *maybe* 14 feet. Will the image still look OK if I mount the projector a few feet closer to the screen than is recommended? I assume this closer distance would also mean shadows will be completely out of the question.

If you mount the TK 14 ft from the screen (lens to screen), the max vertical image height will be 8'9", so you'll be giving up 9" of image height that you have available on your screen. 13' back from screen will give you a max 8'2" image height. Otherwise, no issues putting it closer.

To fill your screen height from closer distance, you could drop down to the HD TH671ST ($749), or move up to the WUXGA LU935ST ($3,999) or 4K Laser LK953ST ($5,500) - all three have shorter throws than the TK700STi and will fill the screen height from 13'6" or closer.

My screen is 134 x 105" basically a 4:3 ratio. Is it worth getting this projector in 4K? I was also comparing to BenQ TH671, any thoughts?

Calculate the distance needed for that size using this. https://projectorcalculator.benq.com/
Projector is excellent value for its semi-short throw and 4k at this price if it fits your needs.
But note that to take advantage of the higher resolution, you will need a more beefier PC.

What's the max distance this projector can be mounted from the screen to maximise vertical screen height? Projector Central's brightness estimate is a lot worse than the "Manufacturers Spec" option.

For example, for 275cm (9ft) screen height and 439cm (14ft5in) Throw Distance, it's saying 36nits Vs 71nits of the Manufactures Spec.

            Thanks!

Anyone know if the TK700STi Is worth $800 more than TH671ST? Also, how can I find what the recommended specs are for a PC for both of these. Can the TK700STi display at 1080 if PC and graphics card not powerful enough for 4K (I’ve got an older PC) I want to try first before I replace it.

I have the same question about 4k vs 1080p. Will RTX 2060 Super suffice for TGC2019 at 4K? Related to that, what is the optimum position of a ceiling projector relative to your hitting position?
