  • Projector location w/Eye XO?

Hi everyone, I pretty much have all my equipment in house and I think I made a mistake mounting my projector this past weekend without a computer or anything else attached...I wanted to see it and couldn't wait!! I got my Eye XO delivered and would like to begin getting things mounted (in the right location) this Thursday but after a bunch of research I'm more confused than when I started. Details are as follows: Impact screen is 10' x 13' in a room with 12' ceilings. I have a BenQ TK700STI combined with the Eye XO. I was initially thinking I would be hitting at 12' but am thinking it may be too far back. Regardless, the Eye XO is supposed to be 3.5' in front of the hitting area, and at 10' high. My confusion is where the projector will be going? I originally mounted it back at 17'-ish and 10' height to fit the screen but now realize the XO will interfere so I guess it will need to be dropped down. But, if I drop it down it may create a shadow from the golfer. Does the projector need to stacked with XO or even be in front? I know there are projector calculators but for every recommendation I read to use one it is followed up with one that says they're not the most reliable. I know there will be trial an error in my placement and will fine tune it as I build, just looking for a general thought to this system if anyone can help. Up and down a 12' ladder gets tiring on 50 year old legs. Thanks from a confused sim builder.

The TK700STi will need its lens at 16' back from your screen for a 10' tall image (you base throw distance on height, then adjust the aspect ratio via horizontal pixel number on your computer to match your 13 ft wide screen). See https://www.projectorcentral.com/Ben...r-pro.htm#calc

Since the EYEXO will be hanging at 10', the projector will need to hang with its lens center 1-2" lower than that in order for the beam to clear and reach the full 10' height.

With the projector at 9'10" or so and 16' back, you probably will need a somewhat longer ball to screen distance, I'm guessing 10-11 feet, to avoid shadows. Depends on your height. You can draw a side view diagram using virtual graph paper at draw.io or lucidchart.com, putting in a stick figure at your height, to determine at what point the shadow will become an issue. You can see an example diagram in the product pics at https://store.gunghogolf.com/BenQ-TH...NEW-p265749740.

Ron one more thing if you wouldn’t mind. I know you referenced the side view diagram and I went to those sites but I’m really not sure how to create that. Can you provide a little more guidance so I don’t have to move the Eye XO if shadows are an issue?

10.5' ball to screen will work if you're around 6'. 10' would work if you're shorter or don't mind an occasional hint of a shadow at bottom of screen. See my diagram at https://imgur.com/2ly9boZ.

If you have the room depth for it, go back to 11' with ball and 16.6" with projector lens, as that will give you wiggle room to fill your screen in case dialing in some vertical keystone adjustment shrinks the image a bit.
