  • Optoma 1080hdr or benq tk700sti

Looking at replacing my older benq 1085st 2200 lumens.
Im a little skeptical about 4k picture on a carls golf screen in a garage vs a cinema screen though..so deciding if it’s worth getting a 4k projector now or wait until a couple more revisions come out to the market.

the optoma would be a lot brighter than what I have now for sure though..

I have the Optoma 1090 HDR. It's great, even in bright light. I have it set at 120HZ. With my current set up I can get 70-80 fps on FSX 2020, which I think looks awesome.

The Optima will not be 4K. Also even though the 1090 has a 4K input it’s display resolution is not 4K.

Yeah I noticed the optima 1090hdr and the benq are around the same price too. I guess it’s up to the 1080hdr or jumping up to the benq

Also struggling with a similar choice. Instead of 1080hdr (1090 laser discontinued), I’m looking at the ZH406ST (1080p, 4200 lumens, 20k hour Laser). I’m so paranoid
about not being happy with a sub 3000 lumen projector. I like the Benq Tk700sti for the 4k but it’s a bulb (maintenance and dust issues )and only 3000 lumens…..which may or may not be enough. 1080p should be enough for a golf sim but I’ll always wonder what a 4k image could look like….grass is always greener scenario…lol. I have a dedicated home theater in my basement with a Sony 4k projector so this garage sim will only be for golf. Would love to hear who has these projectors up and running…thanks

Similar boat here. Seems this site does not get much traffic though based on the lack of responses.

It's entirely possible nobody is interested in your problem. I usually don't even read this subforum except I'm looking to upgrade.

I’m in the same boat. I just am waiting for someone to sell me a LK936ST for the price of a 1080HDR

It does seem like the new UHD35STx could be a good alternative to the 700sti … my issue with the 700 is the throw distance is quite far (15’) for 3000 lumens . The new Optoma is 3600 lumens but will be within 8’ of the screen so it will be a much brighter image.
