  • Optoma UHD35STx

Does anyone have any additional info or plan to make use of the UHD35STx projector? It seems to check all the boxes with 4K resolution, short throw lens, 3600 Lumens and solid $1749 price point.

I can only find it for pre-order on B&H though. Is it for real or too good to be true (and get anytime soon)?

No clue on timeline but if it was a laser I would preorder.

Me too. Shipped and arriving Monday. Curious to see what it looks like.

On a side note I did hear rumor of a laser version, something along the lines of the UHZ##STx but I have been unable to confirm.

I would guess the price will nearly triple if true

Any update on those that ordered? Thinking of ordering one from projector people with the 5 percent off deal currently.

Also interested in feedback on this projector. I am close to purchasing my first projector and had settled on the gt1090hdr. Now this has me thinking again.

              GT1090HDR laser, 1080p, 4200 lumens, 300000:1 contrast ratio, 75% uniformity

              UHD35STX lamp, 4k, 3600 lumens, 1000000:1 contrast ratio, 80% uniformity

4K400STX same as above except for 4000 lumens

                Hi Guys,

Any feedback on the projector? If I buy in Europe, is this the same one?

Just got it hung up last night and must say I’m impressed. I can only compare it to my GT1080Darbee (third photo) but it’s night and day. Price was right too.

I wish I knew more about configuring it but I will play some more today.

Looks great! Thanks for posting pictures. I ended up ordering the 4k400stx but am still ordering/assembling my simulator. I will post pictures when it is complete.

                      Looks awesome!

                      What's your setup like?

I was looking into the Optoma after these posts, but when calculating the position of the projector it would end up in front of me.
My ball position would be 10 feet from the screen.
Does anyone know if it's doable to have the projector in front of you or is the risk of hitting it with a club to high?

My optoma is in front of me and has been for years and has never been hit. I have a piece of foam hanging below it just in case but nothing has ever come close and there has been some insane shots hit in there, skied drivers is the biggest concern.

I just installed a new Carl's Place premium screen that has a viewing area of 150"x106". I set the projector lens at a distance of about 9'2" to fill the full 106" height. Projector central said it should be 7'11" to the lens but the image didn't fit at that distance. I think it is because I only hang the projector 8" from the ceiling and not the 18" they recommend. By doing so I have to angle the projector up and use keystone to correct. That's my theory at least.

My ceilings are about 9'3". My ball position is about 8' so the projector is slightly behind the golfer and right in front of my QED.

My old GT1080 was directly above the golfer and fine. Can't answer if it would be OK in front. I'd be nervous.

Is that a different size than you had for the gt1080darbee?

The safest place for a projector or hardware unit is directly in front, over the top of or behind the golfer. The golf swing doesn't extend straight vertically, it has a horizontal component that takes the club far far away from the projector. If you want peace of mind, though unnecessary, you could make a little plywood shield or something to stop golf balls.

I picked this projector in large part because of the mounting location. If I had to chose between 3600 lumens at 8' or 4000 lumens at 14' I will take the one closer to the screen. It also completely eliminates the possibility for a shadow.

just purchased this projector despite some negative reviews elsewhere (reddit, AVS), really hoping there are no issues with mine!

What were the negative reviews about.
