My room is 13.5' x 15.5' and I cannot (per the wife) mount anything to the walls or ceiling. I've been looking at using the Net Return Simulator Series net for my set-up. I know I need an ultra short throw projector and I am pretty sure I want 1080p. Are there any recommendations for projectors for this application? I was looking at the Optoma GT1080 and the Optoma EH200ST. The only differences between them as far as I can tell is one is 2800 lumens with a 25000:1 contrast ratio and the other is 3000 lumens with a 20000:1 contrast ratio. Also, how important is 1080p? Will 720p suffice?

I am picking between these three as well, however i am ceiling mounting. I want to decide and order asap: optoma gt1080, benq1085, or optoma eh200st... Later 2 are same price point, but 200st is brighter... But saving $200 on gt1080 if quality is same makes sense too....Thoughts?Last edited by BirdieNation; 12-04-2015, 05:58 PM.

Hopefully, i can help...I bought the GT1080 and wasn't happy and I bought the BenQ HT1085ST. The good news was I found the GT1080 refurbished on Amazon for $530....but it still sucked. Immediately, I noticed how washed out the picture was. I assume this is why it shows higher Lumens in the specs than the BenQ. I then ordered the BenQ (also on Amazon). I was able to compare them side by side before I returned the Optoma. There is ZERO comparison and the BenQ is a MUCH better picture quality, brighter and also has Zoom which is required to dial it in with different sources.
I tried all kinds of adjustment to make the GT1080 work and not appear washed out....but you can't. The BenQ is perfect out of the box.
Here is the BenQ....1 Photo

Here's an enclosure that you can put the projector on the floor..it's in a covered box. I thought about making one last year but it worked out that I could mount it in a good location, I ended up getting a benq 770st short throw last for a great deal even though it's 720p, benq looks great. I don't think anyone that has come over to watch movies have wondered if it's 1080p or 720p, it looks that good. If another great deal comes my way I'll give the kids this one. I just picked up a 4ktv to use as a side monitor so I'm curious how tgc will look when I set it up..

I'm looking at the Benq SU922. Does anyone have experience with this projector? I have a 9'x12' screen and my tee is 8'-9' from the screen. I have 10.5' ceilings and would like to mount my projector about 14-15' from the screen. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. Not sure how this compares to the HT1085ST.

I have the 1085ST too but its been superceded to BenQ HT2150ST
Same projector with slightly faster refresh rate I think and better built in speakers (but likely still suck).
Laptop, get one with a GTX 1060 or 1070 (1050 might work, I have no idea) and you should be able to take advantage of the 1080p projector. Find the thread by FaultyClubs about what the different graphics and setting mean and look like.
This article tells you what to expect from laptops built on Intel Core H platforms and Nvidia GTX 1060 Pascal graphics in terms of performance and features,

How far back is your BenQ mounted? Looking for projector to cover a 10' H X 12' W projecting from 10'. The gt1080 failed, now looking at 2150STOriginally posted by goodmatt78Hopefully, i can help...I bought the GT1080 and wasn't happy and I bought the BenQ HT1085ST.
